Aarya 2(Disney+Hotstar, 8 episodes)
Directed by Ram Madhvani, Kapil Sharma, Vinod Rawat
Normally the thought of a sequel to a webseries scares the hell out of me. These encores are more often than not, an excuse for carrying things too far.
Not Aarya. Not Ram Madhvani and Sushmita Sen. The lethal duo have sculpted the most engaging crime drama on this side of the first season of Mirzapur. Aarya 2 is everything that a sequel to a triumphant first-season should be. It is gritty and revealing, powerful and yet sensitive where it needs to be.The shocks and surprises never stop spilling out right until the end.
It is a defly-written drama yoking its violent heart with a solid storytelling that moves fluently from hand-held camera sequences to solidly-grounded dramatic conflicts where the camera abnegates its presence. In August, Saqib was heavily trolled by many netizens who told the actor to "go to Pakistan".
Talking about such social media bullying, Saqib told Ians: "These people don't matter to me. I have never met them. How can I be affected by them? How do I even know they are a real persons? National security, terror threats and intelligence-ops make for ready thriller scripts across cinematic formats. The Ott space, with its multi-episodic structure, allows a longer time frame for stories to gestate, and that would definitely seem like an advantage while telling such tales, over the limited runtime of feature films.

Special Ops, The Family Man and Bard Of Blood are a few random instances, of shows within the genre that have tried scoring off that advantage lately, with varying levels of success. It is Bollywood filmmaker Apoorva Lakhia's turn now, to tap the idea with his debut digital effort, Crackdown.
Lakhia spreads out his tale over eight episodes, but it does not take you long to realise the idea is not necessarily a plus point. As the episodes run, you could be wondering if he...

Actor Ankur Bhatia says essaying the role of a Pakistani Army Chief in the upcoming web series Crackdown was a difficult challenge.
"It's a gallant project. I am playing the Pakistani Army Chief. It's a difficult character. (It is) Totally contrary to what I am as a person, a negative role," Ankur Bhatia said.

It's important especially during the lockdown. I hope we bring in wholesome entertainment for the audience. Their validation means everything."

Aarya
Starring Sushmita Sen, Chandrachur Singh, Ankur Bhatia, Namit Das, Sikander Kher
Directed by Ram Madhvani,Sandeep Modi, Vinod Rawat
As a bereaved wife and a protective mother who would go to any lengths for her family, Sushmita Sen towers over the proceedings as only she can. Thankfully, the series– a clever, canny altogether cool but not always crisp adaptation of the Dutch series Penoza– is a stirring enticing mixture of crime and family drama blended in a heady brew which doesn’t always stand steady on its feet.
Even when the narration stumbles, there is a certain grace to the fall. Luckily even at its lowest ebb Aarya never hits the ground. Like its supremely inviolable survivor-heroine, the series keeps afloat even when it has serious length issues. I feel the same story if told in 5 instead of 9 episodes would have been much more alluring with a landscape that exuded unrest without diversions.

Shraddha Kapoor, who will be next seen playing the lead role in Apoorva Lakhia’s upcoming film ‘Haseena Parkar’, which is based on the life of dreaded don Dawood Ibrahim’s sister Haseena, will be seen playing a loving mother to four kids and Apoorva revealed an interesting trivia about how the young actress prepped for the scenes with her reel kids.
Apoorva said, “There was a scene which was extended when we saw Shraddha cradle her screen kids to stop the crying. She is really patient and mature for her age. I remember her reading pregnancy books and paying attention to details like the way expectant mothers hold their backs.”
He further added, “I ensured that they (the kids) arrived two-three hours before shooting commenced and hung out together with Shraddha and Ankur Bhatia, playing and talking to each other. We also instructed the real parents to not be around during the shoot.

If only Haseena Parkar didn’t suffer from the curse of a clunky, inept, shoddy central performance, it would have been a far more watchable potboiler on gangsterism. And I use the word ‘potboiler’ with all due respect. It’s not easy to make a massy masala movie out of the mayhem and murkiness of the mafia kingdom.
Rahul Dholakia’s Raees earlier this year wedded crime and kitsch. Apoorva Lakhia does it with a fair share of elan and chutzpah. Haseena Parkar is about that Dubai-based gangster who allegedly ran his nefarious business activities in Mumbai through his sister in the 1990s.
The brother and the sister had themselves a blast.
Fortuitously, Lakhia doesn’t miss Da-wood for the trees.

Shraddha Kapoor, who will be next seen playing the intimidating Haseena Aapa in Apoorva Lakhia’s upcoming gangster drama ‘Haseena Parkar’, is blessed with a petite figure, but the actress surprised the film team with her strength while filming a crucial scene involving her reel husband Ankur Bhatia, who plays Ibrahim Parkar.
A source attached to the film unit revealed that while filming Ibrahim’s death sequence, Shraddha was required to carry Bhatia on her shoulders after he gets shot multiple times. Though the team suggested that Shraddha use a body double, she insisted on performing it on her own and managed to carry the tall and well-built Bhatia on her shoulders for the scene. Needless to say, the entire unit was awestruck by her.

After looking at extensive photos of the real house from production designer Sunil Nijvekar, Shraddha was very particular to make the set as natural as possible.
The entire Nagpada was recreated in Essel Studio. During one of her visits to the set, Shraddha asked Sunil to get a certain props like the original and also spent a day arranging and re-arranging them till she felt at home.
When Apoorva and Sunil saw the final set up both were very happy with the small elements the actress had added to the house.

Apoorva Lakhia’s next Haseena Parkar, biopic of a woman who came into recognition because of her brother Dawood Ibrahim, has created a lot of curiosity amongst the audience. Thought there has been a lot spoken about Dawood Ibrahim which is played by Siddhanth Kapoor in the film, there is very little people know about Shraddha Kapoor’s character Haseena Parkar.

When it comes to a biopic, it is very important for the actor playing the title role to have done immense research to portray the role on the silver screen. Just like that, Shraddha Kapoor who will be featuring in her first biopic of Haseena Parkar, went through great first hand research. The actress who would be playing the intense character of Haseena Parkar spent a lot of time in the pace she lived in, Nagpada. Haseena Parkar known as the Aapa of Nagpada had a huge role to play in the life of the people living there, who had seen the journey of the woman and some were even part of it.

Siddhanth Kapoor has joined the league of playing B’town Bhai in Haeena Parkar. The film, which takes you to a journey of Haseena Parkar, sister of Dawood Ibrahim, played by Siddhanth real sister Shraddha Kapoor, will also show the journey of the don.
The second song, which is a peppy number, features Siddhanth Kapoor as a young Dawood Ibrahim. Liberally laced with slang words prominently used by youngsters from South-central Mumbai, ‘Bantai’ (which means ‘buddy’) shows how Dawood and his associates progress from street hoodlums to gangsters over a span of time. Composed by Sachin-Jigar, written by Slim Shetty the song is sung by Divine. A special montage song of the film it has a special call out for Siddhanth’s gang in the film.
