Jedward’s hair-raising cameo in Sharknado’s third instalment – out this week – is already making the world a richer place
Who could have possibly known that the 2011 series of Celebrity Big Brother would rewrite cinematic history? For that series would go on to birth a creative partnership, the likes of which the world hadn’t seen since a young Robert De Niro first met up-and-coming director Martin Scorsese.
You see, Celebrity Big Brother 2011 will now go down in history as the moment where Tara Reid first met her future Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No co-stars Jedward. Who could have known, as they innocently bonded over grocery lists and the unilateral awfulness of Sally Bercow, that just a few short years later we’d be watching Reid and Jedward fend off a swirl of bloodthirsty yet unconvincingly rendered airborne sharks together?

The Jump has reportedly been renewed for a third series by Channel 4.
The dangerous winter sports show will be back next year to test another batch of brave celebrities after the last run averaged 2.3m viewers.
The last series of the show, which is hosted by Davina McCall, saw Joey Essex ski to triumph in a surprise victory over Mike Tindall and Louise Hazel.
But the show has also become notorious for injuries thanks to the dangerous sports involved, with Ola Jordan and Sally Bercow both pulling out of the competition last year before it had even started.
Still, it wasn't all bad news, as unlikely couple Steve-o and Stacey Solomon met on the slopes of Austria during filming for the show.

The Jump star Jodie Kidd has admitted that she was shocked by how "nasty" Lady Victoria Hervey was to her.
The pair had a fierce rivalry throughout the competition until Kidd was eliminated after a snow cross event last night.
Asked today if she was gutted to be out before Hervey, Kidd replied: "Yeah. I wouldn't have minded at all but suddenly watching that Vt of actually how nasty she was, I was a bit put back. I was a bit like, 'Cor!'"
She continued: "I picked up on [her competitiveness during] the skeleton but I just thought she was a bit nervous and didn't want me around. And I didn't realise that she goes through the whole run and then the first thing to say when she took her helmet off was to be annoyed about me!

Dom Parker has suffered a suspected concussion during The Jump training.
The Gogglebox star was injured while tackling a ski cross course for the Channel 4 series, The Mirror reports.
The 49-year-old is currently resting while doctors monitor his condition and decide whether or not he can continue training.
The incident occurred yesterday (January 26) while he practised at Innsbruck in Austria.
Last year, both Sir Steve Redgrave and Marcus Brigstocke were forced to pull out of the show while training for the ski cross event.
A spokeswoman for the show said: "Dom hurt his shoulder and later showed signs of suspected concussion so was monitored and is now resting up."
Jodie Kidd has already been drafted in as a replacement for Sally Bercow, who was forced to pull out after fracturing two ribs during training.
Strictly Come Dancing professional Ola Jordan was also sidelined by injury, and has since been replaced by Chloe Madeley.

Bafta's annual television lecture is not known for its laughs. But amid his serious plea for more black, Asian and minority ethnic workers in broadcasting, Lenny Henry's speech on Monday night had television executives – including ITV boss Peter Fincham – rolling in the aisles. Speaking about the Us adaptation of Sherlock Holmes, Elementary, Henry said it, "has the Korean actress Lucy Liu from Kill Bill and Charlie's Angels playing Doctor Watson. Ooh, very bold decision. There's as much chance of that happening here as seeing Charles Saatchi and Nigella Lawson on Mr and Mrs, isn't there?" Ba-doom, tish! And talking about the BBC's structural changes to boost programmes from the nations and regions, he said: "They set firm targets and even set quotas of a minimum amount of programmes they were going to commission from each nation and region. And the result, like Sally Bercow's alleged drinks bill, is spectacular.

Well done one and all, against all the odds (and Mayan prophecies) we’ve made it to 2013- finally able to put 2012 to rest and gasp in awe at some fireworks. But before we get too far ahead of ourselves it’s time to take one more look at the year we leave behind, focusing specifically on those that plumbed new depths of idiocy in the public eye.
It’s certainly been an eventful year with some inspiring positive events happening throughout- starting with the Queen’s Jubilee and culminating with the end of the Summer of Sport. With the prevalence of such ‘heroes’ everywhere you look, the contrast between these and the less inspirational ones has never been clearer. Thankfully the media has provided us with endless fools this year, from the new fashion for faux-reality shows like Towie and the Valleys (all of which have been banned from...

Sally Bercow has said that she almost wishes she ran naked around the Celebrity Big Brother house. The 2011 housemate told the Evening Standard that stripping off in the house would have proved that she and her husband John Bercow, Speaker of the House of Commons, can be different. Bercow said: "Husbands and wives don't have to agree on everything. I didn't like the fact that he was a Tory MP. "I almost wish I'd run naked around the house, because it would have caused such a furor it would have been sort of a test case. You cannot judge a husband by his wife, and vice versa." Bercow added: "Yes, it would have upset him. Oh, he would have been terribly upset. He probably would have divorced me if I had run naked round the house." Bercow, who attracted attention after posing in a bedsheet for a newspaper, was the...

Ex-Celebrity Big Brother housemate Sally Bercow has revealed that she would be open to appearing on another reality show. The Speaker's wife yesterday became the first person to be evicted from the Elstree compound, but she insisted that neither her early exit nor the criticism she faced for joining the show in the first place would stop her from launching a media career. Asked by Digital Spy if she would appear on a second reality show, Bercow replied: "Oh, I'd love to. I did this one for charity, but I don't deny that I want a media career. I absolutely don't deny that. "I would love to get something like The Wright Stuff or some current affairs show. I'd love to do that in the next few years, or a radio show, or Loose Women. Something like that. "I love being opinionated and I enjoy being in the public eye,...

Sally Bercow has spoken of a possible romance between Kerry Katona and Lucien Laviscount in the Celebrity Big Brother house. The Speaker's wife, who yesterday became the first person to be evicted from the Elstree compound, revealed that although the "expected" fling between Amy Childs and Laviscount may never come about, viewers might soon witness the makings of an altogether different love affair. "I'll tell you one thing - everybody expected Lucien and Amy. No. It's Lucien and Kerry," she informed Digital Spy. "I know there's a big age gap but they get on really, really well and he did say to me at one point, 'I much prefer women like Kerry to women like Amy'. "I wouldn't rule it out. I think Lucien and Kerry, there is something there. I don't know, it might just be an older sister (more)...

Sally Bercow has admitted that she is "embarrassed" to be the first housemate evicted from Celebrity Big Brother 2011. The Speaker's wife, who was booted out earlier this evening over Bobby Sabel and Kerry Katona, told Brian Dowling that she was unhappy to have provided more ammunition for those who criticised her appearance on the show. "I'm a bit embarrassed to be the first one out," she said. "That's a bit of a loser thing, but I had to come out some time [and] I'm quite looking forward to seeing my husband." When asked why she thought the public hadn't voted to save her, Bercow replied: "Because they're bonkers, they should have done. I don't know how I've come across in the house, I have no idea." Tara Reid has predicted that Bobby Sabel will be evicted from the Celebrity Big Brother house for tricking Darryn Lyons into drinking his sweat. The American Pie actress told Kerry Katona and Lucien Laviscount last night that she believes this week's vote to be "a two-horse race" between Sabel and Sally Bercow, with the model probably getting the boot for his "disgusting" prank. Addressing the Coming Clean star, Reid stated: "My instinct's pretty good [and] I can promise you from my instinct it's not you tomorrow, it's Sally and Bobby. Bobby Sabel's prank on fellow Celebrity Big Brother housemate Darryn Lyons has cut the odds on him being evicted tonight, bookies have said. The model used the Wizard of Oz-themed task to trick the Mr Paparazzi founder into drinking his sweat, gathered using cotton wool in the sauna. Sabel later apologised to Lyons, but the other shocked housemates expressed their dismay at his actions. While Sally Bercow remains the 4/6 favourite to become the first person to leave the house tonight, William Hill confirmed that money placed on Bobby to go has seen his odds change from 13/8 to 6/5 overnight.
