Ever since Gold Derby’s predictions center for “The Voice” opened at the start of the Season 21 live shows, Wendy Moten (age 57) of Team Blake Shelton and Girl Named Tom (ages 20–26) of Team Kelly Clarkson have switched off being in first place. However, with just hours left to go in the competition, the sibling trio from Pettisville, Ohio is now far out front and will likely become the first group to ever win NBC’s reality TV show.

The Voice was Tuesday’s highest-rated primetime program for the fourth week in a row. The NBC singing competition was stable from last week and earned a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demo and 6.60 million viewers, per fast affiliates.
Last night’s episode bid farewell to Jeremy Rosado and Holly Forbes, who were among the 10 performers left standing. The latest installment rose slightly in viewership and also made for the most-viewed title on Tuesday, besting The Bachelorette.
The Bachelorette, like The Voice, was steady from the previous week and ticked up in viewers. Bachelorette Michelle Young whittled down her selection of men to four suitors. For the first time in the ABC series’ history, the the final four are all men of color. However Rodney Mathews got the cut, with Brandon Jones, Joe Coleman and Nayte Olukoya left standing.

As we approached Tuesday’s eliminations on The Voice, Monday’s song assignments started to seem on one hand prescient (Team Ariana Grande’s Holly Forbes mangling “Last Dance”) and, on the other, ironic (because how many people really wanted Team Ariana’s Jim and Sasha Allen to “Stay”?). Did either act — or both — get the chop ahead of Season 21’s Semi-Finals?

‘The Voice’ winner predictions: Wendy Moten early favorite to win Blake Shelton his 9th championship
The competition is heating up on “The Voice” as the Top 13 contestants head into Monday’s live performances with the goal of earning a spot in the Top 11. Wendy Moten is out front early in our “The Voice” winner predictions with 13/5 odds of earning coach Blake Shelton his ninth championship. The seasoned diva is followed by Girl Named Tom from Team Kelly Clarkson (82/25 odds), Jim and Sasha Allen from Team Ariana Grande (5/1 odds) and Jershika Maple from Team John Legend (13/2 odds).
Wendy closed out the Live Playoffs with a powerful rendition of Whitney Houston‘s classic hit penned by Dolly Parton, “I Will Always Love You.” Her performance earned thunderous applause before Kelly remarked it would be “insane” if Wendy fails to reach the finale. Blake gave an even bigger endorsement, stating that in his 21 seasons as a coach, there is nobody he’s wanted this more for than Wendy.

The Voice swung the axe Tuesday. And swung it, and swung it, and swung it, cutting down Season 21’s Top 20 to a lucky Top 13.
Were it not for Ariana Grande’s immense social-media following, I’d have anticipated that her team would’ve been totally decimated. Monday, you’ll recall, had been less an off night for them than an awful one.

Over and over again, Monday’s episode of The Voice teed up the saddest kind of mic-drop moment — the kind in which a singer’s asked to drop the mic on their way not just off the stage but the show. Along the way, Ariana Grande got goosebumps galore, John Legend retained a purple-haired competitor who reminded him of Pink, Kelly Clarkson stole a 13-year-old dark horse from Ari, and Blake Shelton was left so awestruck by a performance, he remarked, “I don’t know that I’ve ever seen anything like that.” Spoiler alert: It’s the first one up.

“The Voice” entered the next stage of the competition, the battles, during Monday’s all-new episode. Per tradition, each coach brought along a superstar advisor to help mentor their aspiring artists. They were: Jason Aldean for Team Kelly Clarkson, Camila Cabello for Team John Legend, Kristin Chenoweth for Team Ariana Grande and Dierks Bentley for Team Blake Shelton. In this round, the coaches choose the pairings and the songs, and they also name the winner of each battle. The losing artist can then be “stolen” by a rival coach or “saved” by their own coach. So how did the first set of battles play out?

The blind auditions of the 21st season of “The Voice” came to a close last week with a whopping seven four-chair turns from coaches Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and first timer Ariana Grande. Kelly was queen of the dais, nabbing four of those artists, while Blake claimed two, John one and Ariana couldn’t bring any to her team.
The first artist to perform for the judges this season was Girl Named Tom, a trio of siblings that wowed the coaches with their harmonizing on “Helplessly Hoping.” At the time we didn’t know that season 21’s blinds would be dominated by groups (a total of five made the show), and yet somehow Girl Named Tom remained the strongest of the bunch and one of the best auditions overall.
