Murdoch Mysteries may be 17 seasons in, but it can still find ways to do something new. And in this case, that means a musical episode! TV Insider has an exclusive sneak peek at the event. The episode, “Why Is Everyone Singing?” may not be airing until April 6 on Ovation in the U.S., but it will be debuting on March 25 on CBC in Canada. It was written by Paul Aitken and directed by Laurie Lynd. In the episode, while pursuing a missing man now presumed dead, Murdoch (Yannick Bisson) takes a call that alters his perception of the world. After heading into a lively alley, he’s shot in the head and left for dead. Crabtree (Jonny Harris) and Higgins (Lachlan Murdoch) find him with the faintest pulse clinging to life. As Brackenreid (Thomas Craig), Ogden (Hélène Joy), Watts (Daniel Maslany), and Hart (Shanice Banton) rush to the scene and the constables question a newsboy,...

"This spirit - she is determined, very powerful, rage surrounding her." Vertical Entertainment has unveiled an official trailer for an indie horror thriller titled Isabelle, which premiered at the Busan Film Festival last year. Isabelle is the latest horror from Canadian filmmaker Rob Heydon, and is hitting VOD + a few theaters in late May. After moving into the perfect New England neighborhood, an all-American couple's dream of starting a family is shattered when they encounter an evil spirit that wants nothing more than to take their lives. Amanda Crew stars with Adam Brody, and a full cast including Zoë Belkin, Sheila McCarthy, Booth Savage, Michael Miranda, Dayo Ade, David Tompa, Zoe Doyle, and Shanice Banton. This looks like your standard paranormal horror with the usual terrifying scenes and a freaky red-eyed ghost girl. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Robert Heydon's Isabelle, direct from YouTube (via B-d): After...

When men talk fondly about “the girl next door,” they never mean someone like Isabelle, who turns that all-American fantasy into a real nightmare for the sweet middle-class couple who move next door to a Satanic family in Rob Heydon’s run-of-the-mill chiller. Named after the creepy neighbors’ godforsaken daughter, “Isabelle” is curiously old-fashioned and not at all original enough to distinguish itself in American release. In the context of its world premiere at South Korea’s Busan Film Festival, however, this by-the-numbers midnight movie could work well for export to countries that put stock in ghosts and possession — a context in which the American cast and setting might actually serve as novelties.

Hollywood knows that one genre is almost certain to get the audience’s blood pumping and pulse racing: the sports story. Creed certainly proved that a few months ago (you’d think audiences were watching a real live boxing match, judging from the all the cheering at the multiplex). Couple that on-screen excitement with a dramatic true story, and you’ve hopefully got a critical and box office hit. And while professional sports may be tainted and tarnished thanks to bad behavior and big bucks, the amateur athletes still have a purity and nobility about them. There have been plenty of college (We Are Marshall), high school (Hoosiers), and even grade school (The Bad News Bears) team tales, but for individual triumphs, the four-year spectacle, the Olympics, abound in stories of glory and drama. Well 2016 just so happens to be an olympic year, so the studios are launching the first...

Stephen Hopkins’ Race focuses on Jesse Owens (Selma’s Stephan James), a legendary African-American runner who won four gold medals in the 1936 Berlin Olympics, but never quite received the acclaim he deserved, thanks to virulent racism and a country that only pays attention to you when you’re winning. To Race’s credit, it tries to express these complicated circumstances through an adjacent look at the behind-the-scenes process of America deciding whether to participate in the Olympics at all, and subsequently Owens’ own crisis of faith about whether to attend, but it lacks a coherent perspective to link together all these disparate parts.
From the beginning, Owens is the consummate underdog on the way to success, literally weaving in and out of an impoverished Cleveland in 1933, to say bye to his family before heading off to college. The script is full of telegraphing platitudes like Owens telling his terminally unemployed...

As Jesse Owens puts it in this exclusive new trailer for the biopic "Race," "On that track, there ain't no black and white, there's only fast and slow." Jesse was fast. In the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, he was faster than anyone, winning four gold track-and-field medals. Guess who was slow? It's you, Hitler. It's You!
Hitler didn't actually run in those games himself, but the Germany-set stage was his big opportunity to show off the superiority of the Aryan race. That did not work out, thanks in large part to an American hero who happened to be black.
"Race" stars Stephan James ("Selma") as Jesse Owens, with Jason Sudeikis, Jeremy Irons, Carice van Houten, William Hurt, and Shanice Banton in supporting roles. If you weren't already aware of the historical context, this trailer starts with a documentary-feel to put you in the moment, then confronts the realities of race and racing head-on.

Focus Features has peeled back the curtain covering the first official poster for Race, featuring up-and-comer Stephan James (Selma) at the starting line.
Telling the life and times of legendary athletic superstar Jesse Owens both on and off the track, the awards-friendly biopic takes place in 1936 during the heyday of Adolf Hitler’s fascist rule, exploring some of the prejudice and discrimination that was directed at James Cleveland “Jesse” Owens. Flying in the face of adversary, Owens was a four-time Olympic gold medalist, and is widely considered to be one of – if not the – best track and field athlete in the sport’s history.
Hosted in Berlin, Germany, the 1936 Summer Olympics was an undisputed high point in his decorated career, clinching gold in the 100 meters, 200 meters, long jump, and 4 × 100 meter relay. A remarkable coup, no doubt, and the Stephen Hopkins-directed drama will chart Owens’ path to becoming a sporting legend.

Long before Star Wars: The Force Awakens loomed over Hollywood, snatching some of the finest actors, crew members and director in town, John Boyega had been attached to topline Stephen Hopkins’ Race, a track and field biopic designed to shine a light on legendary athlete Jesse Owens. According to Biography, he captured four gold medals (the 100 meter, the long jump, the 200 meter and the 400-meter relay), and broke two Olympic records along the way. Owens record for the world broad jump would last 25 years until being broken by Olympian Irvin Roberson in 1960.
While Owens helped the U.S. triumph at the games, his return home was not met with the kind of fanfare one might expect.

Let me ask you… Zoie, I’ll start with you, can you talk about what you want the show to be remembered for? Like, what you most want people to think about when they think of Lost Girl.
Zoie Palmer: Gosh, that’s a – it feels like a big question, because there’s you know as we come to the end, it feels like there’s so much. Everything comes rushing back to me you know. I think – well, no you know it was such a team, of both the characters and the cast you know. And I think there’s something about that that sticks with me you know having had a little bit of time away from the actual filming of it now. It’s just like the dynamic of the team, of everybody, and how those characters sort of interacted and moved through the five seasons...
Is Katie plotting to stop Drew & Bianca's wedding? Watch HollywoodLife.com's exclusive 'Degrassi: Las Vegas' sneak peek to find out! In 2009, Degrassi went Hollywood. In 2010, it took Manhattan. And on Dec. 14, in continuing its quest for world dram-ination, the Degrassi crew is bringing its issues to Sin City! While Drew (Luke Bilyk) and Bianca (Alicia Josipovic) are making the trip to tie the knot, Drew's ex-girlfriend Katie (Chloe Rose) has her own reason for hopping a plane — and this clip, obtained exclusively by HollywoodLife.com, we find out exactly what that is. But before you Drew/Bianca fans get too worried, I'll put your fears to rest: Katie is not planning to pull a Jane and crash her ex's wedding. Her brilliant plan involves gambling, and presumably doubling, the money her parents saved for college so she can afford to attend the school of her dreams. (Why do I get...

Hey! We're Gonna Have Another Exclusive Degrassi: Showdown Clip On The Site Tomorrow. So, you know, you should be here for that.
The one thing you should know about Degrassi is that this is a school that runs on secrets and lies. Like, have you ever checked the cafeteria food? Because I'm pretty sure it's composed of secrets, lies, and saturated fats. Anyway, let's start week two!
And can you imagine that I typed that before Zig starts moaning about hating secrets? Because I completely did, I swear. Either way, Zig is now the lead singer of Whisper Hug, which is literally exactly the worst band name ever, and I know this because I checked the giant list of every band name that hasn't been taken and that was dead last. Anyway, the only thing poorer than Zig's band's name is Zig. Zing! Roll Those Credits!

'Degrassi: Showdown' begins tonight, and HollywoodLife.com has your first look at the new cast — sans uniforms — in action. It's a good thing we love Degrassi, because we're about to get a whole lot more of it! Following in its annual tradition of awesomeness, Teen Nick will air new episodes every Monday through Thursday at 10 p.m. beginning July 16. (Oh, wait, that's tonight!) HollywoodLife.com has your exclusive first look at the brand-new opening title sequence, which introduces season 12's key players. Degrassi switched it up a little this year, incorporating more sound effects into the characters' usual curricular shenanigans. Get my thoughts on the video below, then watch it for yourself and drop a comment with your own thoughts on the new season: — Front flips off the front stairs? And parents wonder why their kids keep dying at this school. — Mo and Marisol (Shanice Banton) are apparently still going strong.

HollywoodLife.com has an exclusive clip from tonight's 'Degrassi' finale! Watch & vote: Are you Team Fiona or Team Marisol? It's been a while since we've had a good cat fight on Degrassi, and it looks like the May 18 season finale might just end that dry spell. In this exclusive clip from the episode, Marisol (Shanice Banton) gets all up in Fiona's (Annie Clark) about her money problems -- Fiona owes $11,000 to the school for the "Frostival" -- and she's got some nasty words for the school's resident princess. So will Fiona give up and go back to New York, or will she stick around and defend her reputation? Watch the clip below, then hit up the comments section with your hopes for the season finale: [flv width="600" height="350"]http://www.hollywoodlife.com/&acudeojw.videoId=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.vimg.net%2Fstreaming%2Fhollywoodlife%2Fdeg2.flv/flv] — Andy Swift Follow @AndySwift More Degrassi: ‘Degrassi’ Stars Reveal Big Finale Moment For Fiona & Imogen Cassie Steele On Returning To ‘Degrassi’: ‘There Have...
