In a letter announcing her third album, Don’t Forget Me, singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers says she got inspired for her latest project by creating a “younger Thelma & Louise,” using that storytelling vessel to navigate difficult personal truths of her own. Such self-exploring wanderlust has been a common theme for Rogers, an artist who proclaimed “I found myself when I was going everywhere” on her first LP. This time out, she’s taking a metaphorical road trip through her own past as a means of escaping her disconcerting present.

BBC Radio One’s Live Lounge often brings out the best of the biggest stars, capturing them as they reimagine songs by other artists, but in their distinct style. On Monday, Maggie Rogers stopped by the Live Lounge to perform an acoustic rendition of Tate McRae’s radio staple “Greedy,” slowing down the track and backing it with only guitar and piano.
“I turned the year’s biggest bop into a sad sad slow jam for BBC,” she wrote on Instagram, tagging McRae, who reshared it, writing, “Omggggg.” The rendition...

While “So Sick of Dreaming” is a more upbeat preview that listeners have received of Don’t Forget Me, there’s still a playful edge to it. “Everybody knows you — what’s so good about that?” she asks. The bridge then gives Rogers room to spill the real tea, and she recounts the story of a date getting canceled last-minute when the other party involved ditched a reservation for Knicks tickets.

Maggie Rogers has announced her third album, Don’t Forget Me, which will be released on April 12th via Capitol Records. The title track, which doubles as the lead single, is out today alongside a music video filmed in Super 8. Check it out below.
Rogers wrote Don’t Forget Me over the course of five days in late 2022, early 2023. Her sole collaborator on the project was Ian Fitchuk, who co-wrote eight of the album’s 10 songs and also played the majority of the instruments and served as its co-producer alongside Rogers.
“I wanted to make an album that sounded like a Sunday afternoon,” Rogers said in a note accompanying today’s announcement. “Worn in denim. A drive in your favorite car. No make up, but the right amount of lipstick. Something classic. The mohair throw and bottle of Whiskey in Joan Didion’s motel room. An old corvette. Vintage,...

“For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a thing for everything that is catchy – especially melodies you just can’t get out of your head. It doesn’t really matter what genre it is, as long as I wanna put it on repeat. No wonder I started making pop music! I’ve never really wanted to make one type of pop song, I just wanna write good songs. I’ve been writing and writing, and I felt like releasing one single this year just wasn’t enough, so I decided to put out an EP to show where I’m at now musically. I love the format: short and snappy, but enough time to showcase different sides to the songwriting, the story and the sound. On the Hype EP I’ve written about wondering if you really did live up to the expectations, messing up, getting over someone,...

Multi-platinum emerging artist Stephen Sanchez has released his debut album, Angel Face. The 13-track album is filled to the brim with 50s and 60s-inspired love songs, including RIAA 3x Platinum Certified hit, “Until I Found You.” Along with the album, Stephen has released cinematic music videos for “Death Of The Troubadour” and “High,” directed by Charlie Rees.
Angel Face recounts the life of the fictional Stephen Sanchez aka ‘The Troubadour Sanchez’ – who finds fame based on his 1958 hit “Until I Found You,” shortly followed by a tumultuous romance with his newfound love Evangeline, with the album ending after his untimely murder in 1964. Almost 60 years later, The Troubadour’s unreleased debut album, Angel Face, has been uncovered and is finally being released posthumously.

Joy Oladokun recently started re-watching Nashville, the soapy TV series centered on country music dreams and drama that helped usher in a wave of big change in the Tennessee capital. She had been thinking about her own place in Nashville — mainly, if she should stay as the state becomes increasingly hostile to marginalized people — and feeling depressed about the way the town’s music industry fosters Olympic levels of jealousy for anyone who catches a break.

Joy Oladokun and Chris Stapleton make for thrilling duet partners in the collaborative tune “Sweet Symphony,” the fourth new song that Oladokun has released this year.
Written by Oladokun with Mike Elizondo, Ian Fitchuk, and Shae Jacobs, “Sweet Symphony” more than lives up to its title. With its gently rising and falling set of major chords, the soulful midtempo tune evokes the experience of dropping one’s defenses and facing tough times together. “I let my walls down, lay my weapons on the floor,” Oladokun sings. Pink has released a new single, “Irrelevant,” which sees the pop singer urging fans to advocate for their rights. Proceeds from the song will be donated to When We All Vote, the national, nonpartisan voting initiative created by Michelle Obama.
The anthemic track was written by Pink along with songwriter and producer Ian Fitchuk, marking the pair’s first collaboration.
“As a woman with an opinion and the fearlessness to voice that opinion, it gets very tiring when the only retort is to tell me how irrelevant I am,” the singer said in a statement.

Kacey Musgraves is one of the Grammys’ favorite country artists of the past decade, but not this year — at least not in country categories. Her new album “Star-Crossed” was submitted for Best Country Album, but as was reported by Billboard, the academy’s genre screening committee has deemed it a pop album, where she might join another pop-country crossover act, Taylor Swift (“Evermore“). Do you think that will help or hurt her awards chances?

“Do we really have to grow up?” Kacey Musgraves asked on 2015’s Pageant Material, the last time the singer-songwriter was staring down impossible expectations. Back then she was figuring out where to go next after her standard-setting 2013 debut Same Trailer Different Park, which established the blueprint for daring millennial country storytelling.
On 2018’s Golden Hour Musgraves proved just how effortlessly an artist can mature and have fun at the same time. Golden Hour was a Grammy-winning rodeo-zen opus that set her witty wordplay to a blissed-out blend of banjos and vocoder,...

It’s been three years since Kacey Musgraves released “Golden Hour,” which went on to win her four Grammys including Album of the Year. Now she’s back with her followup, “Star-Crossed,” which she previewed on August 23 with the release of its title track as its lead single as well as the trailer for an accompanying Paramount+ film that will feature its music. Watch the lyric video for the single above, and scroll down to watch the trailer.
Musgraves in a markedly different place than she was when we last heard from her. “Golden Hour” was inspired by finding love with her husband Ruston Kelly, but sadly “Star-Crossed” finds her processing the heartbreak of their divorce. Nevertheless she has reunited with her creative collaborators from “Golden Hour”: co-writers and co-producers Ian Fitchuk and Daniel Tashian.

Justin Bieber just wants there to be "One Less Lonely Girl" in the world. But Kacey Musgraves is fine being by herself, especially when it's 8 a.m. and she's nursing a hangover. As revealed in a new interview with The New York Times, the pop star has apparently become accustomed to sporadically FaceTiming her. He even rang her up during her conversation with the newspaper, causing Kacey to raise "a sly eyebrow" as she showed her producers, Daniel Tashian and Ian Fitchuk, his incoming call. She picked up the phone, telling Justin, "You freaking love an unannounced FaceTime, dude." After wrapping up her call, she explained that the...

Kacey Musgraves will release Star-Crossed, her fourth studio album, on September 10th. The record is the follow-up to Musgraves’ Grammy-winning 2018 LP Golden Hour and was written and recorded in the aftermath of her divorce. The title track to Star-Crossed is out now.
In an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Musgraves described the new project as a “modern tragedy in three acts.” She said she was particularly drawn to the word “star-crossed.” “I just really liked the definition,” she told Lowe. “And I kind of came up with my own sort of too,...

“American Idol” top four finalist Casey Bishop made a bold move Sunday night, sitting down with mentor Finneas to take on Billie Eilish’s “Wish You Were Gay.” She rocked the song’s co-writer/producer, and the judges, too — yet, despite all that love, apparently not everyone wished she would stay.
“So, you’re singing my sister’s song,” Finneas said to the 16-year-old Estero, Florida native about the track. “The greatest honor as a songwriter is hearing the song covered, and Casey has got an incredible instrument,” he continued, advising the teen to sing the song as if “these are lyrics you just thought up before you started singing.”
Dressed in white, Bishop delivered an emotional version of the song that had the judges lavishing praise on the performance.

“I don’t have any performing experience, really,” said “American Idol” semifinalist Casey Bishop at her audition in Ojai. “Most of the people that know that I love to sing are my friends. That’s pretty much it.” The 16-year old high school student (who was 15 when she auditioned) from Estero, Florida earned her spot on the ABC reality TV competition by singing “Live Wire” and “My Funny Valentine” for judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. On Sunday, May 16 Bishop will compete against Chayce Beckham, Grace Kinstler and Willie Spence for a spot in the Season 19 finale.

Brothers Osborne cook up a funky groove with an evergreen message in their new song “Hatin’ Somebody,” which will appear on their upcoming album Skeletons. The Cma-winning duo’s third studio project, Skeletons will be released October 9th.
Built around sizzling, woozy electric and acoustic slide guitar that recall Sticky Fingers-era Rolling Stones, the swampy “Hatin’ Somebody” was penned by siblings John and Tj Osborne with Casey Beathard. It’s also a statement about bigotry and the struggle to coexist that references a personal transformation the duo’s grandfather underwent.

Brett Eldredge used to start his days posting videos of himself singing from bed just moments after he had woken up — a cutesy series he called “Bedhead Jams.” Now, the 34-year-old singer begins his mornings by meditating.

It’d been six years since Kathleen Edwards had seriously thought about making music when she received an out-of-the-blue phone call from the manager of country star Maren Morris in 2017. For the previous three years, Edwards had been working 12-hour days at Quitters Coffee, the neighborhood cafe in suburban Ottawa she opened after a series of creative, mental health, and romantic crises led her to pause her music career in 2014.
Morris, a longtime fan, wanted to know if the Canadian singer-songwriter would write with her. Edwards was intrigued. “I thought,...

Brett Eldredge gave the live debut of his new single “Gabrielle” on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Tuesday night. An at-home performance, the clip captured the country singer in his backyard in Nashville, playing the song about a busted relationship on acoustic guitar.
It’s a bare-bones rendition, but it highlights the songwriting-focused nature of Eldredge’s upcoming album, Sunday Drive. The studio version of “Gabrielle,” released last Friday, is based around a piano melody, which Eldredge says became a hallmark of the project.

Oh, the humanity. On 4/20, Kacey Musgraves found herself without a single joint to spark up. “We’re completely out of weed. Not even a crumb, not a shred, no dust, not even like a Cdb joint — so, that’s fun,” she lamented during a nonetheless satisfying appearance on Willie Nelson’s “Come and Toke It” 4/20 livestream. Dressed appropriately in green satin pajamas, Musgraves sang two songs off her Grammy-winning Golden Hour, “Lonely Weekend” and “Slow Burn.”

Country artists love to talk about getting out of their comfort zone. But for many who have had a taste of mainstream success, especially on don’t-rock-the-boat country radio, it usually means nothing more revolutionary than changing their shirt.
Beginning back in 2012 with “Don’t Ya,” Brett Eldredge amassed a string of radio hits. Some were solid (“Wanna Be That Song”), others less than (“Lose My Mind,” “Drunk on Your Love”), but they kept him near the top of the charts, on the road with stars like Keith Urban, and profitable.

Kacey Musgraves made a triumphant return to the Grammy Awards on Sunday, performing “Rainbow” from her Album of the Year nominee Golden Hour.
The song, consisting of a simple piano-and-vocals arrangement, is the closing track on Golden Hour and has since been adopted by the Lgbtq community as an anthem of support. That theme continued through her Grammy appearance. In a white dress and holding a matching white microphone, Musgraves gave an elegant, lovely performance of the song accompanied on a pearlescent grand piano by Golden Hour co-producer Ian Fitchuk.
