It’s time for a new episode of the Best Horror Movie You Never Saw video series – and this one looks back at a “cheesy zombie movie” that I consider to be one of the most purely entertaining films ever made, 1988’s FleshEater (get it Here). To find out all about FleshEater, check out the video embedded above!
FleshEater was directed by Bill Hinzman, who played the Cemetery Ghoul – the first flesh-eating zombie ever to grace the screen – in George A. Romero’s classic Night of the Living Dead. Hinzman also wrote the screenplay with Bill Randolph, crafting the following story:
Just when you thought the dead were buried… Experience your most dreadful nightmare become reality as an innocent outdoor sleepover becomes an endless night of sheer terror! Eddie and eight of his friends planned to spend one night on Spencer’s farm. What they hadn’t planned on was...

Dario Russo and David Ashby have created something brilliantly bizarre with their Danger 5 but even by their lofty standards this latest teaser for the upcoming second season is manic and strange in all sorts of crazy ways.Robot Hitler? Check. Space shark? Check. Street Wolf? Check. It's all in there, along with loads more. Series 2 launches on Australia's Sbs on Sunday and you can get a taste below. Two days into Fantastic Fest and it already feels like Day Five -- daily downpours, full parking and an overflowing lobby can't deter the spirit of the 1,650 attendees at this year's jam-packed film festival. The theme song that comes to mind is Daft Punk's "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger." My mantra of "it's a marathon, not a sprint" has already been replaced with the festival motto "Chaos reigns," as I've managed to fit in five films, three red carpets, two parties and two late nights in just the first two days. Let's not even discuss how much I've already spent on alcohol at The Highball.

Colonel Chestbridge and the Danger 5 team are back! And it's the 1980s! After Hitler escaped from their clutches at the end of series 1, Jackson, Ilsa, Pierre, Tucker and Claire have tracked him to the era of big shoulder pads and bouffant hair to bring him to justice. It's Christmas in the 1980s. Adolf Hitler is alive and has two Yuletide wishes: Danger 5 dead... and the world under his Christmas tree.Fingers crossed for a helluva Die Hard homage. Created and written by Dario Russo and David Ashby and produced by Kate Croser, Danger 5 will shoot later in the year with an air date yet to be announced. Due to the massive overseas cult success of the show, we expect something better than the...

One of the greatest TV shows to premiere in 2012 was Danger 5. A madcap pastiche of spy tropes, ridiculous costumes and elaborate plywood sets, Danger 5 asks what if World War II happened during the swinging 1960s, and a crack team of international secret agents was formed by a blazer-wearing Colonel with an eagle's head, and given a weekly mission to hunt down and kill Adolf Hitler? Danger 5 creators Dario Russo and David Ashby then answer this question with aplomb. While it was made for Australian TV, viewers around the world have been trying to watch this show all year. Now comes news that Danger 5 is finally available to watch in the Us via Hulu.Today we've heard the sad news that Thunderbirds creator...

Fantastic Fest is over but that doesn’t mean we should stop promoting the incredible line-up of movies programmed. It has become a Sound on Sight tradition that once the event has finished, we post a festival wrap-up highlighting our favourite films. Here are the top three picks from four of our writers. Ty Landis:
Holy Motors
There’s hardly anything to compare the film with, as it co-exists as both a “down the rabbit hole” experiment and a seething condemning of the current state of film. The film is shaped in such a way where attempting to reduce it to one meaning or idea would be rightfully foolish. It casually inhabits a realm of odd-ball richness rarely seen or demonstrated in contemporary cinema. In some respects, Holy Motors has the feel and temperament of a swan song for the director, producing...

Danger 5
Directed by Dario Russo
Created by Dario Russo and David Ashby
2012, Australia
In Danger 5 an elite force of international specialist stop at nothing to thwart Hitler’s insidious schemes in this bizarro alternate reality comedy series created by Dario Russo and David Ashby. As with their bogus obscure 60′s euro-spiderman ripoff Italian Spiderman, Russo and Ashby go to great lengths to recreate the look and feel of pulp TV for Danger 5, but where the former played it so straight one might think you were watching the real deal – Danger 5 clearly aims for the absurd. The show which is produced for Australian TV bears more than a passing resemblance to another great action adventure series Thunderbirds (as well as subsequent parodies The Golords and Team America). My hunch is that the homage is intended.

Danger 5 is an exotic cocktail loaded with sensual pleasures, bullet casings and sexy dynamite. The comedy series bizarre premise exploits the glory days of 1960's pulp, culture, bigotry and beyond, by gathering a 'crack team' known as the Danger 5 together to kill Hitler (yes Hitler) in the strangest most unhinged version of the troubling era yet, and easily the best program to grace Australian screens in a long time!On the day Madman released the series on DVD, and with a major Australian television channel Sbs broadcasting it weekly, I had the immense pleasure of catching up with the creator Dario Russo and co-creator and actor of Jackson, David Ashby, for a debrief and here is what they had to say after I administered...

After four months of being fed morsels of the greatest 1960-spy-Hitler-spoof-since-that-Peter-Sellers-movie-i-was-sure-was-real, we're happy to report Danger 5 has now reached the red zone, with only 24 hours hours until its launch onto Australian TV. Painstakingly created by Dario Russo and David Ashby (and no doubt, a hundred of their friends dressed as Nazi monkeys, Diamond Girls and Dino-men), Danger 5 doesn't ask many questions, but when it does it seduces you with cocktails and cigarettes and asks what if World War II had happened in the 1960s and the Allies had sent a team of classy super-spies to bring Adolf Hitler to justice? And then it answers this question, in spades. Check out the trailer below, then get out your calendar and circle 9:30pm, tune your TV into Sbs in...

Danger 5 goes head-to-head with Herman Göring and his posse of invincible She-Nazis in the final instalment of this swinging spy series. That's the bad news. Now if only someone will give David Russo and David Ashby money to make a feature.

"Danger 5" is my favorite new webseries. Set in an alternate universe WWII (a universe I much prefer), secret Ally operatives seek to foil devious Nazi plans, such as Hitler's birthday: complete with go-go dancer synpathizers.
I'll watch anything with Nazis. Thanks for the tip-off, QuietEarth!

In each episode Danger 5 unavels another of Hitler's diabolical schemes as they travel across a myriad of exotic locations.
Oh gosh, robots! Dinosaurs! The 60s in WWII! Does it get better than this? No. It does not. We can all thank David Russo and David Ashby ("Jackson"), the aussies who created this. Thank you. Thank you! The series premieres on YouTube (free!) on November 21st. Watch the trailer:...

Dario Russo got millions of hits online with his Italian Spider-Man. He told Miguel Gonzalez how he’s going to bring that existing audience to his new TV show, Danger 5.
When Dario Russo first conceived Italian Spider-Man – a parody of Italian action films of the 70s – as a short film for his final year at Flinders University and uploaded it to YouTube in late 2007, just as he had done with all his previous work, he did not anticipate that the fake trailer would find a cult following online… but it did.
“It was shot on a Jvc prosumer HD camera, and it reflected the absolute zero budget we were working on then. It was made essentially with what we could borrow, but for some reason a whole bunch of people decided to watch the trailer,” he said.
The initial success helped Russo secure funding for 10 more shorts, which were also released via YouTube.

Everyone’s going to Adelaide this week, to be at the country’s most risk-taking festival. Encore spoke with festival director Katrina Sedgwick and associate director Adele Hann about the secrets behind its success.
The first point of differenceis the festival’s Investment Fund, which has delivered some of Australia’s most acclaimed films of recent times, including 2009’s Samson & Delilah. The pressure to continue this high level of performance from its slate hasn’t seen the funded projects become safe, predictable choices. It’s been quite the opposite.

Over time the success of the slate has generated anticipation; it’s become the element of the program that people really look forward to, the one that sells out first and excites the industry.
