It's been nearly a year since there was last anything to talk about regarding the upcoming low-budget monster hunt from Chapman Filmed Entertainment, Trigger, but finally some new casting news has emerged. Read on for details.
According to Screen Daily Scott Glenn has signed on to the flick to appear alongside the previously announced Stephen Tobolowsky and Chris Coy. Basel Owies directs from a script by Max Enscoe. Principal photography is set to begin later this month in California.
A character-driven thriller, Trigger examines two men fixated on what triggers the enormity of evil: a father whose life is destroyed in pursuit of a monster, a son caught in a deadly charade as he tries to unravel his father’s obsession.

As regards the Hostel franchise and its peers, I suspect that many diehard readers of Famous Monsters might primarily be more at home with the “classic” monster archetypes such as zombies, vampires, aliens, etc. In fact, the horror community in general has been rather vocal as of late in hastily brushing aside the “torture porn” trend that has inundated the genre scene in recent years, and which was partly ushered in by Rob Zombie, Eli Roth, and the Saw franchise. Like all fads, it rapidly engendered a lot of imitators, some passable but most direly inferior, and soon the backlash was apparent in critics’ dismissal of such grisly, one-note affairs as just another one of “those” movies.

Part three? Yes, dear readers. Part three. “Intruder” director Scott Spiegel takes the reins for the third installment in the “Hostel” franchise, the first of which that’s not directed by Eli Roth. The film follows a group of morons who take a trip to Las Vegas, only to find themselves being tortured inside an American branch of the Elite Hunting Club. If that premise sounds like a good time to you, perhaps this collection of images will tickle your sadistic fancy. “Hostel: Part 3″, which stars Kip Pardue, Brian Hallisay, Sarah Habel, John Hensley, Skyler Stone, Chris Coy, and Thomas Kretschmann, hits DVD and Blu-ray on December 23rd, 2011. If you missed the trailer, that little slice of heaven has been included, as well...

The third installment in the "Paranormal Activity" franchise creeps into theaters this weekend. To get you ready for supernatural chills, there's a sixth viral clip that's been released. "Catfish" directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman direct the film that finds a young Katie (from the first and second films), and her sister Kristi battling evil.
The newest clip shows more found footage, set at night in the bedroom. Paramount has stuck with their grassroots, viral marketing campaign for the film since Oren Peli's 2007 movie. Mysterious VHS tapes — simply labeled with the date, 1988 — were passed around to various websites, revealing similar found footage. See what terror this one contains by clicking right here.

In the horror genre there are few things we love more than the stupidity of young adults! I mean, why not pick up strange, spooky-looking hitchhikers and drive them to their dilapidated home, where you'll eventually encounter all kinds of nastiness? We love you guys!
According to Variety Jeremy Sumpter, Bret Davern, Elizabeth Diprinzio, Chris Coy, Lindsey Godfrey, Virginia Williams, Jonathan Schaech and Harley Graham are starring in indie horror thriller The Culling, currently shooting in New Orleans.
The Culling centers on a group of five college friends who head out of town for a fun-filled long weekend, but their plans change after finding a 7-year-old girl alone at an empty cafe along the highway and have no choice but to drive her home. When they arrive at her house, it's quickly apparent they will have to stay for the night -- but what's not apparent is the evil nightmare they are about to encounter.

It had to be expected really… Given the moderate , yet dwindling, success of the Hostel franchise, the third film in the series, cleverly named Hostel Part III, is headed direct to DVD without the involvement of writer/director Eli Roth. Instead the three-quel is directed by Scott Speigel, who was the co-writer of Evil Dead 2 and the director of the fantastic 80s supermarket slasher Intruder (and more recently the Dusk Till Dawn DVD sequels), and stars Brian Hallisay, Kip Pardue, John Hensley, Chris Coy, Skyler Stone and Sarah Habel.
High stakes gambling takes on a sinister new meaning in this third chapter of the terrifying Hostel series. While attending a bachelor party in Las Vegas, four friends are enticed by two sexy escorts to join them at a private party way off the Strip. Once there, they are horrified to find themselves the subjects of a perverse game of torture,...

Directed by Scott Spiegel, and starring Kip Pardue, Brian Hallisay, Sarah Habel, John Hensley, Skyler Stone, Chris Coy and Thomas Kretschmann, "The story concerns a Vegas bachelor party that turns grisly when the groom (Hallisay) learns that his longtime best friend (Pardue) has targeted him for ritual murder." Watch this spot for our set report in the coming months. Eli Roth, who created and directed the first two films in the franchise, had no…...
