Citizen Koch The sadly ridiculous details of Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker’s election and recall fight are just part of the backdrop for this documentary about the U.S. Supreme Court’s “Citizen United” ruling and the rise of the Tea Party. At the center of it all are the billionaire Koch brothers (and other immensely rich donors), who having been empowered by the court’s decision unleash a tidal wave of legal support for political agendas. To be clear, this is not an impartial doc looking at two sides of a story. That may sound improper, but some things that look politically slanted are actually straightforward facts. Both sides of the aisle have seen their fair share if disgusting behavior, and this doc looks at the actions on the right that led to a...

Corporations Are People: Lessin and Deal Question Why
Tia Lessin and Carl Deal’s Citizen Koch looks to shine a light on the political upheaval going on in Wisconsin due to covert corporate concessions and bought out statesmen. With the election of the Republican governor Scott Walker, economic hell seems to have broken loose as unions have been stripped of their ability to defend their working class members as massive tax breaks have been given to the rich. Splitting time between former presidential candidate Buddy Roemer as he hits the campaign trail with a bluntly honest ethos, several financially hurting hardcore Republicans as they wage war with Walker’s Tea-Party politics in response to the loss of their collective bargaining power, and an amalgamation of media clips that annotate the journey from the monumental Citizen’s United ruling to back door dealings with Walker and the Kochs, the docu is...

Alan Carr calls out gays for homophobia, gays caused the great flood in the Bible, ask an elected official if they’ve ever had a blow job
Alan Carr is hitting back at gays who accused him of perpetuating stereotypes in his ad for PETA. “The ‘fairy’ in the @Peta campaign refers to my ‘Tooth Fairy’ DVD that’s all. Take my advice if you act like a victim you get treated like 1…Don’t worry twitter they’ll be another bandwagon you can jump on in a minute zzzzzzzzzzzzzz…Hey and before all you oh so worthy gays get back on your high horse the most homophobia I get is from gays. #selfloathing” Mostly I think it’s clever, but I’m naturally repulsed by anything PETA does.
Get a tissue. Then read this. You need to read this.
Disney has helpfully mapped the Myers-Briggs personality test to their characters.

The Young Turks, a network of popular online video channels, has raised $4 million from Roemer, Robinson, Melville & Co., LLC, a private equity fund led by former Louisiana Governor Buddy Roemer. Rrm can increase its investment to as much as $8 million. Roemer, a Republican,, has invested in a network whose CEO and co-founder, Cenk Uygur, previously hosted a show on MSNBC and Current TV, the network backed by former Vice President Al Gore. Though Uygur hosted shows on two TV networks with liberal perspectives, his political shows upbraid those on both sides of the aisle for being in the...

Less than six months after The Young Turks Network (aka Tyt Network) raised over $400,000 from its fanbase to build a new studio, the internet’s “fiercely” independent news source and burgeoning YouTube multi-channel network has received another influx of cash. Tyt Network announced today it’s raised $4 million (with an option to go up to $8 million) from Roemer, Robinson, Melville & Co., LLC (aka Rrm), a firm led by 2012 Republican, American’s Elect, and Reform Party presidential candidate, Louisiana Governor and Congressman, Buddy Roemer. “We believe Tyt will be one of the critical players moving forward in a new media world - edgy, unfiltered news commentary at its best. They are a lot like me, sometimes wrong but never in doubt,” said Roemer in the release. “We expect their news to continue to push the envelope and their business to grow exponentially.” It may come as a surprise for fans of...

Pundit and comic Bill Maher is back again Friday night on HBO. Tune in alert for "real Time with Bill Maher" as the roundtable guests this week are former Mich. Gov. Jennifer Granholm, reporter Matt Lewis and former La. Gov. Buddy Roemer; commentator Bill Moyers and Vt. Sen. Bernie Sanders. Granholm, a Current TV pundit and show host, appeared Tuesday on Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report," and described Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney's job-creation credentials as "totally ridiculous." She praised the Obama administration's bailout of the auto industry, which she called "smart government assistance to save the backbone of the manufacturing sector of this country." Granholm is promoting her book "A Governor's Story," and her upcoming Current TV program, "The...

Though Stephen Colbert’s attempt to “finally raise democracy to the same level as the Tostitos™ Fiesta Bowl and Kardashian™ weddings” by buying the naming rights to the Jan. 21 South Carolina Republican primary didn’t pan out, the host of Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report can take solace in knowing that he bested both former Utah governor Jon Huntsman and former Louisiana governor Buddy Roemer in a poll of Gop voters in his home state. Public Policy Polling added Colbert’s name to the list of actual Republican presidential candidates in a recent survey. While Mitt Romney led with...

Update: During an interview with Fox News on Tuesday, Huntsman responded to the poll results.
“Well when I was on his show recently he promised me the Colbert bump," Huntsman said. "I think we are getting that here in New Hampshire, now I am going to be looking for the Colbert bump in South Carolina."
Huntsman appeared on "The Colbert Report" in October.
Previously: A new Ppp poll shows Comedy Central star Stephen Colbert edging out Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman in South Carolina's upcoming Gop primary, despite the fact that the comedian is not actually on the ballot.
The new poll, released on Tuesday, shows five percent of primary voters in the Palmetto State picking Colbert, while four percent choose Huntsman. Former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer also trailed Colbert with just one percent of primary voters supporting him.
