Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War is a masterpiece in the making. From the manga that took the longest time to be made to the anime that started airing a decade after the original anime’s end; the series has been through a lot. While criticism of Tite Kubo’s work may not end, praise quickly follows in its path as well.

There may have been ups and downs with regard to the series’ success, pacing, and story; but the final outcome through the Thousand-Year Blood War was one that fans can unanimously agree about. It is a spectacle to watch with a story worth endless compliments. Tite Kubo may not have gotten to finish the series in a way he wanted but Studio Pierrot is trying its level best to do the current arc justice.

I am not sure if it has something to do with the release of another Miyazaki film this year, but the whole anime industry actually seems to experience another surge, with the titles of quality coming one after the other. That this level actually applies to series that continue, new ones, based on manga or original, remakes and relaunches, and the streaming ones is probably the most astonishing feat for 2023, in one of the best seasons in anime we have seen lately.

While Ichigo is training, the rest of his Soul Society comrades are having to fight their Quincy opponents without their Bankai, which had, surprisingly, been stolen by their adversaries. In the meantime, Urahara is searching for a way for them to get their Bankai back, while Kurotsuchi is doing his own experiments on how to counter some of the most fearful techniques of their opponents. Yhwach, on the other hand, is searching for a way to invade the Soul Palace, while Ishida is being promoted within the ranks of the Quincy. As the episodes pass, more new foes are introduced, while the majority of the major characters of the previous seasons also make an appearance.

On one hand, while a number of animators and staff members from the anime industry have sternly spoken against the use of AI, anime directors Keiichi Hara and Tomohisa Taguchi, who are veterans in their own right, had an entirely different opinion regarding it.
As reported by Full Frontal, both Hara and Taguchi, who were talking at a panel at this year’s Annecy Festival, believed that AI, which doesn’t complain, get tired or sleep, could be a good tool to replace “lazy animators” and do the work in their place.
This opinion has stirred various sections of fandom, who believed that the directors shouldn’t have made such a comment in light of the recent developments.
Hara was talking about the difficulties of making animated feature films, when the topic shifted to lazy animators “who are being paid without putting in the work that’s expected of them.

"Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning" begins, like all good "Digimon" stories should, with Maurice Ravel's "Boléro." The track starts playing as a giant Digi-egg appears floating above Tokyo Tower. It quickly starts emitting an electromagnetic pulse that impacts every screen on the planet and declares "May everyone in the world have friends. May they each have a Digimon," in several languages. When the egg hatches, it spells chaos around the world, and it is up to the second-generation DigiDestined to stop it.
Except, there's not much in terms of fighting. There are no Dark Masters threatening to destroy the world. Compared to other "Digimon" movies, the action is barely there, but the film still offers a dark and engrossing story that brings "Digimon" to psychological and even body horror territory. If somebody asked me whether I liked anime, the answer would be a resounding yes! But, the truth is, outside of the amazing films of Studio Ghibli I haven’t watched a whole lot of anime. I’m not a complete novice but I would love to see many more anime movies and shows. And, with a title like The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes, this seemed like a great movie to get on to that.
The tunnel here is the Urashima Tunnel, and the rumour that Kaoru Tono has heard is that the laws of time and space mean nothing there. If you can find it, and walk through it, you’ll find your heart’s desire there, in exchange for a year of your own life.

Two classmates navigate their relationship – along with a magical tunnel where time gets dilated – in Tomohisa Taguchi’s elegant animation
The Planet of the Apes and the waterworld in Interstellar aren’t the only places in cinema where the time dilation phenomenon can be observed. A few metres down the railway track from a smalltown station in Tomohisa Taguchi’s anime romance, downtrodden hero Kaoru (Oji Suzuka) slips down a bank to find a cleft in a rockface; it gives on to the Urashima tunnel, a magical passageway capable of granting your greatest wish. But mere seconds spent in this molten-canopied alley chasing after your heart’s desire equate to hours on the outside; minutes mean years.

Chiara Malta and Sébastien Laudenbach’s hand-painted marvel “Chicken for Linda!” took home dual honors at the Annecy Animation Festival on Saturday, scooping up the festival’s top prize, the Cristal Award for best feature, as well as the Gan Foundation award for distribution.
A bittersweet childhood tale that finds screwball humor in mourning and melancholy, the French-language film premiered to some acclaim out of Cannes’ Acid sidebar last month, and was picked up for North American distribution by Gkids while competing in Annecy.
“We wanted something both funny and affecting,” said co-director Chiara Malta. “The two elements were never in conflict, because we made the film for children, putting ourselves in their perspectives while adopting their language.”
“We wanted a [joyful mess],” added co-director Sébastien Laudenbach. “The film is sad and funny. It’s full of energy and emotion, and as a result, the graphic style is dynamic as well.”
