"I will never not be myself for nobody." Is that some wisdom... or a threat? There's nothing like an awkward brunch with someone you don't like. Indie filmmaker Jim Cummings has unveiled his brand new short film called The Last Bunch online - it's available to watch now. The 11-minute short just premiered at the 2024 SXSW Film Festival earlier this month, and he's launched it on the web without any delay after the fest. The short is about two couple getting brunch at a nice restaurant in Los Angeles, and their conversation gets more and more awkward as it goes on. Starring Bridge Stuart, Dustin Hahn, Taylor Misiak, Julia Bales, Hailey Rose, and Max Fillss. It's best to enjoy this film without knowing anything about where this conversation is going or what will be going down at this lovely brunch. This short quite similar to Julia Bales' short Followers, also about awkward moments.

Dave is taking a break.
There are “no current plans” for a fourth season of the Fxx comedy as co-creator and star Dave Burd “presses pause” to focus on other things.
Burd, otherwise known as Lil Dicky, has long talked about his music career and wanting to record more albums. Penith, the soundtrack to Dave, featuring the single “Mr. McAdams,” was released last month.
“Making Dave has been and continues to be a dream come true,” he said. “But there are other creative ventures that I am dying to pursue as well. For the past 5 years, I’ve poured every fiber of my being into the show, and after three amazing seasons, this feels like a good time to press pause to give myself the bandwidth to do some of the other things I have always wanted to do. "What did he say that was weird?" Don't you want to find out. Who's up for a "neurotic thriller" from L.A.? This super awkward, uncomfortable short film called Followers has debuted to watch in full online after initially premiering at film festivals earlier this year. Written and directed by filmmaker Julia Bales, it's a focused look at the lives of a nice influencer couple living in Los Angeles. Wendy has a sneaking suspicion that her meeting with Emma, who subsequently invited herself and partner over for dinner, was no chance encounter. What do they really want with her? This has such a well-played sneaky edge that's critiquing more than it seems at first glance, which is why it's so damn good. Starring Joey Ally, Jim Cummings, Taylor Misiak, and Bill O'Neill. Right at 15 mins, this is a captivating watch right to the end. View below. // Continue Reading ›...

“Dave” and Lil Dicky fans, the artist’s first new music in eight years is finally coming to streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music later this year. Dave Burd, the “Dave” star/exec producer and rapper also known as Lil Dicky, is compiling tracks, and expanding other music cues, from the first three seasons of “Dave” that he plans to release shortly.
The album would serve somewhat as a “Dave” soundtrack but also as Lil Dicky’s first official release since 2015’s “Professional Rapper,” which was certified platinum and hit No. 1 on the Billboard Top Rap Albums chart.
“I’ve been making music ever since then,” Burd said. “I realized this year, as I took a step back and looked at all the different music that’s made it into the first three seasons of the show, there’s enough here, a great body of work and a project...

Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers for Episode 9 of “Dave,” now streaming on Hulu.
Christine Ko’s Emma, the unaffected cool chick in Lil Dicky’s friend group in “Dave,” has been filming a documentary throughout the third season of the FX comedy, which follows Dave Burd’s autofictional title character as he embarks on a “Looking for Love” tour across America.
But the finished product isn’t quite what Dave expects, as Emma includes hidden camera footage of their editing sessions — which paints Dave as obsessive and controlling — in the final cut of the documentary.
After a family and friends screening, Dave tells Emma he was impressed by the movie, but felt “manipulated” by her, arguing that he never gave her permission to film the editing sessions. When he begins to offer feedback, Emma cuts him off: “This isn’t our thing. It’s mine. I’m not compromising my vision for anything…...

[Editor's Note: This post contains spoilers for Dave Season 3, Episode 8, "Met Gala."]
Things couldn't be better for Dave (Dave Burd) at the beginning of this week's episode, "Met Gala." Not only is his career finally taking off post-death scam, but his relationship with Robyn (Chloe Bennet), the photographer he met in Wisconsin, is thriving. They're experimenting with "condiment-based handjobs," co-parenting their elephant in Africa, and rolling around in bed in a way that reflects their total comfort with one another. For the first time since breaking up with Ally (Taylor Misiak) in Season 1, Dave is romantically satisfied — which makes it even more upsetting that Rachel McAdams threatens to blow it all up.

Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers from “Wisconsin,” the April 19 episode of Fxx’s “Dave,” now streaming on Hulu.
Breaking up is never easy, but on television it’s especially difficult — and moreso if audiences fall in love with both parties involved. In Season 1 of Fxx’s “Dave,” the relationship between aspiring rapper Lil Dicky (Dave Burd) and his kindergarten teacher girlfriend Ally (Taylor Misiak) offered an essential window not just into who the series’ title character is, but why viewers should love him despite his often deeply narcissistic worldview. After Dave’s failed overture to reconcile with her in Season 2, Ally joins him in Season 3 to capitalize on his “Looking For Love Tour” by embracing her “single girl era” and finding love for herself — if she’s ready for it.
Ahead of episode four, Ally’s return to the show, Misiak spoke to Variety about the relationship her character...

Dave “Lil Dicky” Burd’s Dave is back with season 3. Naturally, many viewers are curious about the cast of the Fxx/Hulu series and where they might have seen the actors before. Find out what shows and movies Andrew Santino, Taylor Misiak, Christine Ko, Travis “Taco” Bennett, and GaTa have been in before, plus who the richest is out of the Dave cast.
Dave ‘Lil Dicky’ Burd and GaTa in season 3 of ‘Dave’ | Byron Cohen/FX Lil Dicky is the wealthiest ‘Dave’ cast member
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Lil Dicky is worth an estimated $8 million in 2023. The rapper hasn’t released new music in some time, which means he hasn’t gone on tour and earned money from that revenue stream. Instead, he has been focused on writing new music and his Fxx series.
Burd’s co-star Santino, who plays his manager in the comedy series, ranks second when it comes to net worth.

Befitting its meta narrative, the Fxx series “Dave” and its lead character, Dave Burd, tend to follow parallel paths. The first season sees the aspiring rapper (stage name: Lil Dicky) working to prove he’s a legitimate artist, not just a parody of real musicians. Similarly, the show had to prove itself as more than a prestige TV imitator — a low-brow copycat of “Atlanta” or “Curb Your Enthusiasm” distinguished only by its many, many dick jokes. Check and check. Not only is “Dave” telling its own story from its own perspective, co-creators Dave Burd and Jeff Schaffer recognize the opportunity provided when artistic ambition meets gangbuster ratings and designed a stellar Season 2 as a deep-dive into issues like privilege, auteur theory, and appropriation. To prompt such topics, Dave is given an opportunity of his own: a bonafide rap album backed by a record label.

“Ally is not gone forever. She is definitely part of the unit,” Shin said. “I think you’re going to find, you know, this whole notion of looking for love, she was such an integral part of the first two seasons. I think it would be a shame if we kind of discarded her … She’ll be there for sure.”
Heralded today as FX Network’s most-watched comedy ever, “Dave” returns for its third season on Wednesday on Fxx, and this time around, the quirky rapper is hitting the road, headlining his first-ever tour (aptly called the “Looking for Love” tour) and setting his sights on finding a new love interest for himself.

Dave “Lil Dicky” Burd returns to television with season 3 of his Fxx/Hulu series Dave. This season, Lil Dicky is on tour a quest for love and gets into plenty of genital-joke-filled shenanigans along the way. Featuring an incredibly talented cast and team of creatives behind the scenes who give the storytelling dimension, Dave Season 3 gets a 4.5 star review. Here’s what made the third season of the rapper’s Fxx series excellent.
‘Dave’ Season 3 is excellent | Showbiz Cheat Sheet ‘Dave’ cast reverts back to the basics in season 3
Season 1 of Dave was about Burd’s initial viral success and his quest to achieve long-lasting fame. In season 2, that fame quickly went to the rapper’s head. As a result, fame compromised some of the most important relationships in his life, especially his girlfriend Ally (Taylor Misiak).
Dave Season 3 strikes a balance between the versions of Lil Dicky we saw in the first two seasons.

“Dave” has been renewed for Season 3 at FX.
The show, based on the rise of hip-hop star Lil Dicky, stars Dave Burd as himself, as well as GaTa, Andrew Santino, Taylor Misiak, Travis Bennett and Christine Ko.
The show’s second season debuted last summer on Fxx, focusing on the aftermath of Dave’s relationship with Ally (Misiak) and conflicts with his hype man and creative partner GaTa, whose real-life struggle with bipolar disorder is portrayed on screen.
Season 2 ended on a high note, with GaTa joining Lil Dicky on stage at the VMAs for a euphoric duet of the song “We Good.”
Burd told Variety that he cast GaTa as himself in part because their relationship is “borderline impossible to replicate,” and he was “extremely confident” GaTa would be able to nail the humor of the series.

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for the finale of “Dave” Season 2, Episode 10, “Dave.”]
“Dave” has come a long way.
Imagine it’s early 2020. You’re walking down the street, and towering above you is the billboard for “Dave” Season 1 — the one where Dave Burd, aka Lil Dicky, is popping out of the fly. A passing pedestrian sees you staring and says, “In just a few years, that show is going to bring you to tears.” Would you chuckle? Ignore them? Look over your shoulder as you speed-walk away, making sure the weirdo isn’t following you?
Probably one of the three, and yet, here we are: It’s August 2021, and the finale of “Dave” is an exquisite closing number, keeping with Season 2’s overarching mission to check Dave’s privileged perspective, acknowledge the struggles of his oft-exploited friends, and push its characters, narrative, and formal ambitions forward in ways both hysterical and yes, moving.
To be fair, once you got past the marketing,...

Spoiler Alert: The following story contains details from the season finale of Fxx’s Dave.
In the Season 2 finale of Dave, our titular character faces a make-or-break moment not only in his rapping career, but also in his relationship with one of his best friends.
As the episode opens, Dave has just released his debut album, “Penith.” While it has charted as the number one comedy album in the country, he isn’t happy with its reception, feeling that there’s no awareness of it because it hasn’t been supported with proper marketing.
Sigmund Freud would have had a field day with Dave Burd, star of “Dave,” the hit Fxx comedy about a white rapper on the ascent and his entourage.
Burd’s rap alter-ego, Lil Dicky, was spawned by — what else? — not only his own micro-sized genitalia, but also a tangled urethra which required several childhood surgeries, and apparently caused a lifetime of shame and humiliation, but also spawned an impressive ambition.
“I feel like my personality is the way it is because I was born with this abnormality,” says the 33-year-old, hard at work editing, scoring and mixing sound for the final of the 10 episodes in the show’s second season, set to air through the summer. “By default, I became this self-deprecating human as a coping mechanism, which is the root of my comedy.”

Dave isn’t listening.
Standing in the middle of downtown Seoul, the rapper known as Lil Dicky peppers his intern/translator, Dan, with questions and observations about the shoot for his latest music video. “Are the details Korean enough?” he asks, not waiting for Dan to pass along the broad query to their director before moving on to another thought. “Did you know that 90 percent of the world’s consumable seaweed comes from Korea?” he asks, trying to prove how well he knows the local culture.
To be fair, Dave is a bit stressed. He’s under pressure to produce his first studio album, he’s spending a ton of money on the debut single’s video, and the K-pop star he brought in as a guest vocalist (to lend the song authenticity and boost its visibility) hasn’t shown up to set.
But the thing is, when you don’t listen,...

“You’ve won the hearts of many people who should have hated you, so many times,” Dave Burd’s manager Mike assures him. “Like who?” Dave wonders. Mike does not have a good answer, admitting that he only made the original comment because he’s high.
The real Dave Burd — a.k.a. comic rapper Lil Dicky, who is also the co-creator (with Curb Your Enthusiasm producer Jeff Schaffer) and star of the Fxx comedy Dave — has definitely won over those who should have hated him. Me, for instance. I...
