The inevitable has happened. For the first time, a TikTok dancer will appear on Dancing with the Stars. And yes, of course, it’s Charli D’Amelio.
The 18-year-old star, who has been described as the “queen of TikTok,” will vie for the Mirrorball Trophy during the 31st season of the long-running competition series. To earn the top prize, D’Amelio will have to out-dance a slew of other contestants, including a member of her own family. Heidi D’Amelio, Charli’s mother, will also be part of the season 31 cast. Rather than serving as her daughter’s dance partner, Heidi will go up against her. Good luck, mom!
The younger D’Amelio will add her name to the list of internet personalities who have competed on DWTS. Other members of that group include YouTube fashionista Bethany Mota, one-time Vine star Hayes Grier, acrobatic violinist Lindsey Stirling, and YouTube standout Jojo Siwa.

Age is just a number, and Milo Manheim might prove that adage true again. The 17-year-old is one of the frontrunners to win “Dancing with the Stars” and would in turn become the show’s youngest male champ ever.
The “Zombies” star, who has the second highest average score this season, would break the record currently held by Jordan Fisher, then 23 when he took home the Mirrorball trophy in Season 25. Fisher had ended the 21-season, 10-and-a-half-year reign of Apolo Anton Ohno, who won Season 4 on his 25th birthday.

It's been seven years since Rebecca Black released her song, "Friday," but the pain from the bullying she received as a 13-year-old hasn't left her.
In an essay for NBC News' Think that was published on Friday, Black reflected on the dark side of her shot to stardom in 2011, admitting that "the onslaught of negative attention I received was so sudden and so intense that I wasn’t sure I would survive."
Black wrote that she was already bullied by her classmates before being bombarded with death threat by online trolls, and the additional bullying caused her to leave school and be homeschooled by her mother.
"One minute, I was a normal girl and then, in the next, millions of people [knew] who I was and they were ruthless in hurling the most vile words my way," she shared. "People were writing things all over the Internet, on social media and they were laughing at me on TV shows...

Following his Saturday afternoon set at Marquee Dayclub in the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, DJ Khaled was briefly joined by Kesha at a private dining room at Tao Asian Bistro in the Venetian on Sept. 23. The “Praying” singer, who was in town to perform at the iHeartRadio Music Festival, congratulated Khaled on his festival performance before heading to her own table in the restaurant’s loft, where she enjoyed the chicken fried rice, lobster wontons and short ribs. As for the producer, he and a group...

YouTube’s CEO has launched her very own channel on the site over which she presides.
While Wojcicki, 49, looks to have had a YouTube channel before, it has since been wiped clean and currently houses just one video, aptly titled My First Video -- Advice From Creators. Wojcicki hardly appears in the clip, which is instead packed with cameos from top YouTube stars like Dan & Phil, Bethany Mota, The Dolan Twins, the Eh Bee Family, Lele Pons, Rhett & Link, The Rock, and many more. To date, the video has clocked nearly 52,000 views -- though it counts more than twice as many 'dislikes' (8,000) as 'likes' (3,000).
Some of the advice that the above creators had to offer about launching a new YouTube channel includes: be authentic, practice and rehearse dutifully, strive for fastidious editing, ignore negative comments, showcase pets whenever possible, and consistency is key.

The 30-day period between September 15 and October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month, and YouTube is taking some time to honor the hard-working creators in its community who fit that identity. It has launched an initiative on its YouTube Spotlight channel that includes multiple playlists dedicated to the content produced by Hispanic and Latino creators, including Lele Pons, Eric Ochoa, and Bethany Mota.
The playlists, according to a YouTube blog post, will be refreshed every nine days during Hispanic Heritage Month, and will showcase a diverse and eclectic cross section of Hispanic and Latino videos. YouTube is overflowing with stories that are rich in Latinx and Hispanic culture and perspective," reads the post, "and it includes voices that span a vibrant spectrum of backgrounds and experiences."

Violinist and YouTube superstar Lindsey Stirling may soon be trying her hand at ballroom dancing.
The 30-year-old, who counts a staggering 9.7 million subscribers and 2 billion lifetime views on her YouTube channel, is reportedly joining the 25th season of the hit ABC competition series Dancing With The Stars, according to Us Weekly. The pro dancer with whom Stirling will partner has yet to be announced.
This isn’t the first time that Stirling -- who also performs choreography while playing violin -- has appeared on a reality show: she was a quarter finalist on season five of America’s Got Talent in 2010. She’s also not the first celebrity from the digital realm to appear on Dancing With The Stars. In 2014, lifestyle vlogger Bethany Mota appeared on the 19th season of the show -- finishing fourth -- while Vine star Hayes Grier joined season 21 the following year, and was eliminated during week seven.

Leading multi-channel network Studio71 has filed a fraud and breach of contract suit against YouTube lifestyle guru Bethany Mota -- and her father/manager, Tony Mota -- over a brand deal allegedly gone awry.
In the suit, Studio71 alleges that Mota was offered a talent fee of $325,000 to fly to the Hawaiian island of Kauai in exchange for a sponsored YouTube video and posts on her various social channels to promote a well-known skin care company. (While the brand is unnamed in the suit, Mota did appear to be in Hawaii earlier this year with suntan brand Hawaiian Tropic).

Having attended numerous YouTube-related events, including Vidcon, Playlist Live, book signings, tours, concerts, and meet-and-greets, Camp 17 -- a seven-day overnight camp featuring digital influencers Tyler Oakley and Bethany Mota as our camp counselors -- was by far the most intimate and thrilling fan experience I’ve ever had.
Fellow fans traveled the world over to tiny Camp Wah-Nee in Torrington, Ct -- from England, Scotland, Germany, Portugal, and even Australia -- to take advantage of this seemingly unfathomable opportunity.
That said, going to camp with Bethany and Tyler went from surreal to second nature pretty quickly. Whether Tyler was serving us lunch or cheering on nervous campers trying their hands at the trapeze, or Bethany was taking dance lessons with us and bravely taking her turn on the zip line, their involvement and presence came to seem oddly normal. To an outsider, the difference between YouTube star and fan might’ve even been imperceptible.

Across 14 seasons and 266 episodes, Family Guy has cracked jokes about everything from Star Wars to the Detroit Lions to cool hwip. So what’s the Fox animated comedy’s latest target? YouTube. In the show’s April 17th episode, Stewie cracked jokes about YouTube stars Jenna Marbles, Ray William Johnson, Bethany Mota, Marcus Butler, and Ingrid Nilsen, defining them as both rich and anonymous.
In turn, Stewie mentions the above content creators, and each time, Brian echoes the sentiments of Americans of a certain age by not recognizing any of the names. As Stewie notes, Brian’s ignorance doesn’t matter, because those YouTubers are rich. “This,” he concludes, pointing to the Fox logo in the corner of the screen, “this is over.”
It’s fun to see a major network show riffing on the online video community, even if Family Guy is overstating the amount money that can be made on the Internet.

Summer camp is going digital. Mills Entertainment, which produces live events hosted by digital media stars, has announced Camp17, a series of sleepaway camps whose “head counselors” will be YouTube stars.
