“Intolerance”
“Intolerance” would be a massive, amazing undertaking in 2013. Can you even put in perspective what it was like 100 years ago? Arguably one of the most important and influential silent films ever made, “Intolerance” runs almost three hours and covers centuries of storytelling. It’s a fascinating film both in the history of cinema and the way it addressed cultural concerns of the time. Cohen Media Group continues to expertly restore and highlight great films. They’re quickly rising the ranks of the most important Blu-ray studios working today.

It's been a minute, but Katy Perry is returning to the MTV Video Music Awards stage.
MTV revealed on Monday (Aug. 12) that the pop star was set to perform her new single "Roar" during the Aug. 25 ceremony at Brooklyn's Barclays Center. This will be Perry's first time back at the show as a performer since 2009, when she took the stage with Aerosmith's Joe Perry to cover Queen's "We Will Rock You."
Perry's performance of "Roar" will be her first live performance of the song. The single, the lead track off upcoming album "Prism," leaked early on Saturday, prompting the singer to quickly offer the song for sale on iTunes.
MTV's amassing an impressive stable of performers for this year's return to NYC. Beyond Perry, the network has announced that Lady Gaga, Kanye West and Miley Cyrus will all be in the house to perform their latest singles.

Some of the most famous rock songs of all time were composed while the artists were on drugs -- or waiting for drugs, as was the case with Aerosmith.
Steven Tyler reveals in a new blog post that the band wrote the 1977 hit "Walk This Way," which was later remade as a collaboration with Run-d.M.C., while awaiting a cocaine delivery. (The drug was prolific throughout the 1970s rock world, with notable heavy users also including Stevie Nicks, Rod Stewart, Ozzy Osbourne and Keith Richards.)
"We were all waiting for a load of blow to come," Tyler writes in a new blog for NME. "[Guitarist] Joe Perry was onstage and I ran up onstage and starting jamming with him. Who knew that from jamming with Joe, it would become so big and do what it did?"
Head over to NME to read Tyler's full blog post, in which he talks...

Atlanta -- Buddy Guy knows that blues music isn't the taste of today's youth, but the Chicago guitar legend wants to show directors at radio stations and aspiring musicians that the classic sound is still alive with his new album, "Rhythm & Blues."
"I'm not saying play the blues every day like everything else," said Guy, who released the album Tuesday, the same day he turned 77. "Just play the blues two or three times a week and I'll be happy with that.
Guy is looking to make a hit by infusing his down-home country blues sound with top acts from the rock and country music realm. The double album includes guest appearances from Kid Rock, Keith Urban, Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Beth Hart and Gary Clark Jr.
Guy, who toured with the Rolling Stones during the 1960s, said there are a few fresh acts keeping the blues sound alive with Clark Jr.

New York—Sting sang a feisty “Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting” to Elton John and Bernie Taupin, Foreigner’s Mick Jones and Lou Gramm shared a stage together for the first time in a decade, and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry delivered a spiky “Walk This Way” at the 2013 Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction ceremonies here Thursday night (14). Sure, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is great, but many musicians say the hall they really want to join is the Songwriters Hall of Fame. It’s much less glitzy and has no museum (yet) to show off its wares, but...

It's a sweet emotion indeed for Aeromsith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. The Toxic Twins were among a host of musicians including Foreigner frontman Lou Gramm, Holly Knight, DJ Souther, and Tony Hatch that were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame Thursday night in New York. The 44th ceremony kicked off with Sting performing a rousing rendition of Elton John's hit "Saturday's All Right for Fightin'," in honor of the Rocket Man, who, along with his longtime songwriting partner Bernie Taupin, received the Johnny Mercer Award. (John had been inducted into the Hall in 1992.) Billy Joel paid tribute to Gramm and fellow Foreigner member Mick Jones by leading a sing-along to the...

G.I. Joe: Retaliation
Directed by: Jon M. Chu
Cast: Dwayne Johnson, Channing Tatum, Bruce Willis, D.J. Cotrona, Adrianne Palicki, Jonathan Pryce
Running Time: 1 hr 50 mins
Rating: PG-13
Release Date: March 29, 2013
Plot: After their base is attacked, members of the “elite fighting force” G.I Joe (Johnson, Cotrona, Palicki) return to America to stop the evil Cobra Commander from unleashing nuclear war.
Who’S It For? You don’t have to be a teenager to enjoy G.I. Joe: Retaliation for whatever it is, but it is necessary to anticipate how intentionally unintelligent this action movie will be.
Expectations: Previous film G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra was pretty successful in making silly spectacle out of a film adapted from a toy. Would Step Up 2: The Streets director Jon M. Chu be able to continue this attitude, with the help of Dwayne Johnson?
Scorecard (0-10)

Oh, Ke$ha. She just can't seem to get it right. We hoped after seeing her go without make-up last week, she'd tone down her look. But she did the exact opposite. What is up with her floral getup (that cap belongs on a synchronized swimmer). And those tights ... yikes!Ke$ha's not the only rocker who landed on our worst dressed list. We're not quite sure what's going on with Steven Tyler and Joe Perry's scarved lady look, and Debbie Harry continues to puzzle us. Check out more of this week's worst dressed stars by clicking the "Launch Gallery" above! Read more...

Celebrities love charitable causes, and yesterday afternoon (March 10) some of Tinseltown’s finest showed up at the John Varvatos 10th Annual Stuart House shindig in Los Angeles.
Naomi Watts and her husband Liev Schreiber looked to be having a marvelous time as they mingled with the likes of Nina Dobrev, Steven Tyler, and Joe Perry at the Chrysler-and-Hasbro-sponsored benefit.
Meanwhile, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner enjoyed their VIP status (Affleck was an honorary co-chair of the soiree) while talking about life after the Oscars.
The “Argo” hunk told press, “I've been able to really just enjoy my good fortune in the last couple of weeks and sit back and kind of just take it in and not do anything, just eat ice cream on the couch.”
Ben also credits Garner for telling him about the Stuart House organization. “That really stuck with me and I wanted to support it. Particularly,...
