Launched back in 2003, the NCIS franchise isn’t losing its ground anytime soon as it keeps expanding the original show’s universe with two more exciting spinoffs to come soon. The franchise is currently working on NCIS: Origins, starring Austin Stowell as young Leroy Jethro Gibbs, and NCIS: Tony & Ziva with the latter following Tony Dinozzo and Ziva David’s career paths and personal relationships after they both quit the flagship series.
Now that the NCIS universe is getting bigger by significantly enlarging its characters’ background stories, one of the show’s creators has revealed his personal thoughts on potential crossovers in the franchise, and there’s one seemingly big problem that doesn’t seem to be that much of a big deal to him.
Talking about the franchise’s upcoming projects, NCIS co-showrunner Steven D. Binder reflected on a possibility to intertwine all the spinoffs’ worlds with the original...

NCIS season 21 left its fans in desperate anticipation for the show’s next installment that will unveil all the mysteries which were dropped uncovered.
The latest season ended on two major cliffhangers making things pretty much unclear about how Jessica Knight’s career path will change and whether it will affect her personal life in a bad way, while there’s also a lot to ask about Alden Parker’s hallucination that will possibly lead to his background story enlargement.
While fans still have several months to come up with all the possible turn of events for Jessica Knight, NCIS showrunner has recently opened up about the character’s future in the next season, but his answer may cause even more confusion among the series’ viewers.

NCIS is officially over its season 21 and is heading to the next installment which is set to be released later this year, and there seems to be so many questions that it needs to find answers for.
The latest season ended on two major cliffhangers, suggesting that Jessica Knight will inevitably leave the McRt for a bigger role on the other side of the country, while Alden Parker’s backstory will receive an update after his hallucination on the boat.
Though these are the most popular things for fans to keep speculating regarding the upcoming season, two other characters also need a bigger development, and they actually deserve it more than anyone else.

Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ story may be getting a big update soon as NCIS keeps expanding its universe with yet another spinoff, but the character has been out of the original show for quite some time already.
Gibbs said a definite goodbye to his team back in season 19 when he decided it was time for a long-awaited retirement in Alaska while his position was eventually taken over by former FBI agent Alden Parker.
Though the latter has been there for several seasons in a row with no real criticism from the show’s lovers, some fans still seem to question Gibbs’ decision to pass on his torch to Parker while there was another excellent candidate for such a role.

While there are many ways to write certain characters off the show when the actors are done playing them, there is always the most shocking and heartbreaking option of killing them off. Throughout its two-decade run, NCIS has seen many beloved characters go, as well as some deaths.
Here are 10 of the character deaths that hit viewers the hardest, no matter how big or small their role was within the show.
Ned Dorneget (Matt Jones)
There's nothing more devastating than a mother having to bury her own child, but even more terrifying is a mother having to take the investigation of her son's death into her own hands. Murdered in an explosion in Cairo after saving dozens of people, Ned was avenged by the team and his mother, CIA officer Joanna Teague.
Michelle Lee (Liza Lapira)
This character was one of the most controversial, not fitting into either the "villain" or "hero" category.

There are a lot of different medical dramas out there on TV, but few of them managed to become really successful and extremely popular among viewers. One of such dramas is, of course, Grey’s Anatomy. There’s hardly anyone who hasn't heard of Meredith Grey’s shenanigans.
The show is now on its season 20, and it’s hardly going to end anytime soon. But there’s another perfect medical drama to watch if you are a fan of the genre, and we are sure you are going to like this one even more – even though there is a catch.
Chicago Hope Walked So Grey’s Anatomy Could Run

When a show stays on air long enough, it becomes your friend of sorts. All the characters become close to you, you root for them with all your heart, you wish them well when they need it and you yell at your screen something like “go to hell” when somebody wrongs your favorite cast member.
NCIS fans definitely experienced a lot of different emotions during the show’s run, and even today the series continues making them all too emotional. Although many characters have come and go over the years, the love towards the show never faded away.
But of course there were some episodes over all these years that were just too hard to handle and made fans ugly cry for the entire weekend and sometimes more. Here are just three of them.

Right now, it feels like NCIS and a couple of its spin-offs are on everyone's mind. The show, which passed the two-decade milestone, not only hasn't tired its viewers out, it's found two new offshoots to expand its universe and continue its battle with NBC's Law & Order for the longest-running procedural.
Of course, viewers' attention is now divided between NCIS: Origins, which will tell the origin story of Agent Gibbs, previously played by Mark Harmon, and NCIS: Tony & Ziva, which will follow the lives of two former agents after they escape to Europe.
However, the most loyal fans still remember how the franchise lost what could have been its best spin-off 11 years ago.
Why Was NCIS: Red Canceled?
Originally, NCIS: Red was not supposed to be a spin-off of the original NCIS series, but of NCIS: Los Angeles. Since NCIS has always been keen on creating more location-based...

Even though Mark Harmon is considered the heart and soul of NCIS, as it is impossible to imagine the show running for so long without the charismatic father figure of Gibbs, that does not mean the actor did not have his fair share of struggles while working on the show.
In fact, according to some of his former co-stars, Harmon was a reason for many behind-the-scenes clashes.
Regardless of whose side you take in these feuds, it's always interesting to check out the drama that occurred during the filming of your favorite show. So, if you are curious about all the conflicts that took place, here are 3 stories shared by former NCIS stars.
Donald P. Bellisario

But if anyone has ever wondered if Gibbs has rizz, a new clip shared online answers that question.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen Mark Harmon as Gibbs in the NCIS Universe.
Harmon’s last episode was Gret Wide Open in October 2021. It was during Season 19, and it left many fans saddened.

There is nothing worse than watching your favorite show become less and less entertaining with each new episode. Sometimes it's the writers, who seem to lose the spark and keep putting the characters in repetitive cycles. Other times, it's the actors, whose work on the set becomes less and less interesting.
Either way, the moment the show stops feeling exciting and authentic, viewers want it to end. As NCIS celebrates the finale of its 21st season, it is also celebrating the continued interest of its audience. However, if the show hadn't dodged the bullet in 2018, its fate could have been very different.

NCIS fans are definitely having some concerns regarding the franchise’s future as many of them have been quite vocal about recent, and pretty much disappointing, decisions that are currently transforming the entire NCIS universe.
Several weeks ago, the franchise officially lost one of its most successful spinoffs NCIS: Hawai’i, but its attempts to make it up to the scrapped show by launching two more series doesn’t really seem to be working.
Regardless of whether fans are excited about it or not, NCIS is getting a replacement for NCIS: Hawai’i by giving a whole new show to the universe’s biggest figure Leroy Jethro Gibbs, something the longtime lovers of the franchise have already lamented over.
Now that there’s no way for NCIS: Hawai’i to be back and Gibbs’ spinoff titled NCIS: Origins is already on its way, fans are determined to consider the upcoming show for watching...

More than 400 episodes, 21 seasons, millions of fans — this is NCIS, one of the most popular shows on television right now. The project has had its ups and downs, there were characters that fans loved and hated.

Seems like the last few months have been quite a tough time for the NCIS franchise and especially for its fans. Though things aren’t that bad for the show itself and its spinoffs as NCIS keeps expanding its universe with two more series making their way to the screens soon, some other shows’ brief history on TV isn’t what many viewers would ever want to have.

NCIS is the TV show that started the trend of projects about NCIS as an independent law enforcement. The project became so popular that it spawned a number of spin-offs.
It's no secret that actors in popular television shows receive substantial paychecks, and if you're interested in specific figures for the main stars of NCIS who are still in the project or have already left it, you can find them here.
5. Wilmer Valderrama as Nicholas Torres — $100,000
Nick appeared in the premiere episode of season 14, replacing fan favorite Tony Dinozzo. He returned to D.C. to bring the person responsible for his brother-in-law's death to justice. At first, Nick seemed too hot-tempered, but over time he joined the team and became an integral part of it.
Wilmer Valderrama, who plays Torres, earns about $100,000 per episode.
4. David McCallum as Dr. Donald Mallard — $175,000
Unfortunately, NCIS lost one of the longest-running characters in Season 21 — Dr.

NCIS season 21 finale left everyone on the hook waiting impatiently for another installment to finally reveal what the future holds for the McRt after Jessica Knight’s inevitable departure. The latest season’s ending made it pretty clear that Knight might not leave the entire show for good, yet her position will definitely get vacant once she starts her career on the other side of the country.
While NCIS has nothing yet to tease about its upcoming season and all the changes it will bring, all of Jessica Knight’s potential successors seem to have one peculiar detail in common.
Should Jessica Knight step away from being a part of the McRt, her duties will be taken over by someone who will come into a fully refreshed team with another leader at its helm. Right up to season 19, the McRt was navigated by its invariable supervisor, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, until...

Netflix has changed its mind concerning the hit TV show NCIS. The streaming giant had said that it was removing the series completely at the end of June. This upset many fans, as it remains one of the most watched shows on television, and that includes on Netflix. The good news is that Netflix won’t remove the entire series.
Here is a look at what Netflix is doing with NCIS and when it goes into effect.
Netflix Will Keep Some NCIS Seasons After June
The original news stated that Netflix was removing NCIS from the streaming service at the end of June. It wasn’t much of a surprise since Paramount+ is the official home of the show and has the new episodes up after they air on CBS. However, for past seasons, the two streaming services shared the show.

While there’s nothing to say about whether Knight will leave the show for good or will rather appear as a guest in the upcoming seasons, the challengers for her vacant place are quite numerous, but only one of them fits in for several reasons at once.

Even though it’s not the guest stars who make the show, but the regular cast, there is some magic about one-episode characters played by someone the audience knows and loves. Just like every major procedural on TV that has been running long enough, NCIS had its fair share of actors, hosts and even political figures joining the team.
Here are 8 biggest names who have joined the NCIS family throughout the years, and where exactly in the show you can find them.
Troian Bellisario
Best known for her portrayal of Spencer Hastings in Pretty Little Liars, Bellisario appeared in two episodes of NCIS as Agent McGee's sister, Sarah. Her appearance on the show before her big break is easy to explain, as Troian is the daughter of Donald P. Bellisario, the mastermind behind both Jag and NCIS.

The NCIS franchise keeps expanding its universe as it’s about to bring Leroy Jethro Gibbs to the screens, the character who left the original show back in season 19. The franchise’s new spinoff titled NCIS: Origins will take its viewers back to 1991 when young Gibbs was about to start his career as an NCIS agent.
Now that the whole series will put its focus on the character’s personal and professional story, Gibbs appears to get not only an honor of his own show, but also the status of the franchise’s most featured character that previously belonged to someone else.
By taking up the spotlight in the upcoming spinoff, Gibbs officially becomes the NCIS universe’s indispensable game player who’ll now be featured in four shows of the franchise.

When the show lasts as long and has as many branches as NCIS, changes are inevitable. While some are more welcome than others, sometimes fans just have to brace themselves and prepare for all possible scenarios. After Gibbs' departure from the show, this point has become even more apparent.
While it's understandable that it can be hard to get used to any replacement, change isn't always bad. And if you open your eyes and your heart, you may come to accept the way the show is going, as many other fans have already done. The devastating truth is that Alden Parker is exactly the person NCIS needs.
Why Didn’t McGee Replace Gibbs?
Everyone in and out of the NCIS universe was shocked to see McGee remain a senior agent instead of taking Gibbs' place when he left. It seems like a no-brainer not only to the audience, but also to Leon Vance,...

NCIS: Hawai’i’s story may be over, but some of its actors aren’t going anywhere, and in quite a weird way. The show was officially canceled earlier this year after 3 seasons, but the NCIS franchise lives on with the original show’s continuous long-standing run and two more spinoffs making their way to the screens quite soon.
Though characters’ shift from one show to another within the same universe is something normal on modern TV, the recent casting news regarding one of NCIS’ spinoffs isn’t what fans may have expected in this case at all.
Though NCIS: Hawai’i has been unfairly ditched, NCIS nonetheless gets more space to expand its universe by diving deeper into the main characters’ personal and professional stories.
The franchise is officially set to release a separate series titled NCIS: Origins which will now revolve around the original show’s pivotal character, Leroy Jethro Gibbs,...

An NCIS: Origins cast video was released to get potential viewers excited.
This new show from the NCISverse is taking some risks, as the producers hope fans want to see stories from younger versions of some important characters.
Flashback episodes of NCIS went over very well, with stories like when Leroy Jethro Gibbs first met Donald Mallard. They even had Mark Harmon’s son (Sean Harmon) play a younger version of Gibbs.
The idea to do flashbacks has been fleshed out into a full series, with episodes of NCIS: Origins debuting in Fall 2024.
The new show gets the 10/9c timeslot on Mondays that has been vacated by NCIS: Hawai’i. Unfortunately, the Vanessa Lachey NCIS spin-off was canceled by CBS.
NCIS Season 22 will air on Mondays at 9/8c in the fall, serving as the lead-in for this new prequel show.

NCIS’ upcoming prequel centring on Mark Harmon's Leroy Jethro Gibbs is gradually piecing together as the show is getting its preps for the production. Coming under the name NCIS: Origins, the series will take the viewers back to 1991 showing Gibbs, this time portrayed by younger actor Austin Stowell, at the very start of his NCIS agent’s career.
While CBS is all excited to find a substitute for the canceled NCIS: Hawaii’s time slot, some fans don’t seem to be that enthusiastic after the show’s execs released its first promo image.
The NCIS: Origins’ image gives a first look at Stowell as young Gibbs, and though the actor seems to be a good fit for the show, something in there still doesn’t look quite right. Some fans were quick to point out that, surprisingly, it’s Stowell’s hairstyle that spoils the whole impression of the character’s younger version.

CBS’ police procedural thriller show NCIS has been having quite a good time on TV with the recent season 21 being aired and multiple spinoff series making their way to the show universe’s expansion.
Back in January NCIS’ prequel show called NCIS: Origins was officially greenlit for airing sometime in 2025; this time the show will be centring on Leroy Jethro Gibbs’s story that will take viewers back to 1991 when the character was about to kick his NCIS agent’s career off.
With the previous news that Austin Stowell was cast to portray young Gibbs in the upcoming prequel, some other major updates about the show’s ensemble didn’t take too long to arrive either.
According to Deadline’s reports, NCIS: Origins has officially added Patrick Fischler and Julian Black Antelope. The former has recently starred in Jeffrey Wright-led Oscar-winning black comedy drama American Fiction while the latter...

[Warning: This article contains major spoilers for the NCIS Season 21 episode “Reef Madness.”]
Jessica Knight made a huge decision in the NCIS Season 21 finale, and it’s one that likely has fans wondering if cast member Katrina Law is leaving the CBS show for good.
In “Reef Madness,” NCIS head Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) approached Knight with a surprising offer. He wanted her as the head of the new NCIS React team at Camp Pendleton. But taking the job would likely mean moving to the West Coast and leaving behind the rest of the NCIS team, including her boyfriend Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen).

NCIS is not afraid to lose characters, whether by them leaving or even dying. There is not a single main character left from the pilot, and only Sean Murray remains as Timothy McGee from the first season (his first appearance was on the seventh episode of Season 1). Now, another major character might be leaving.
Here is a look at what changes the NCIS season finale might bring to the show.
Could Katrina Law Leave NCIS?
Katrina Law might be leaving NCIS after this season’s finale. The Season 21 finale (“Reef Madness”) has some hints that Knight (Law) might leave the series by taking on a new job. The show has never shied away from characters leaving the show — often in shocking manners.
Caitlin Todd (Sasha Alexander) was a main character in the first season as she clashed with Jetrho Leroy Gibbs before joining the team and becoming a key member of his squad.

Was that for real?
Is Jessica Knight out the door as it appeared after NCIS Season 21 Episode 10?
And did the only intrateam romance in the current NCIS franchise go with her?
It's been a wacky season for TV as the networks slash and cut, then slash some more following the new writers' and actors' contracts.
And it is conceivable that Katrina Law wanted out. She joined the Hawaii Five-0 cast for what turned out to be its 10th and final season, with its cancellation a surprise to many. Maybe she wanted to get a jump this time, in case Season 22 is it for NCIS.
That's not out of the realm of possibility. After all, the show's favorite characters are still featured on CBS/Paramount+, with NCIS: Origins (young Gibbs), and the unnamed Tony and Ziva project. Why pay for the Mother Ship as well?
Also, it's not unusual to have surprise departures on NCIS finales,...

Over the course of its 21-year television run, CBS’ police procedural show NCIS has been constantly reshaping its story by adding and removing characters, something that would make the plot go in a completely different direction.
Such changes mostly did affect the storyline, but only one character from the first ever seasons gave the whole show a radically switched perspective that later on helped introduce another significant cast member.

Sadly, the network has confirmed that the series is no longer in contention for renewal and will end after 14 seasons in December.
While announcing the CBS fall schedule on Thursday, Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach shared that the show’s fate has been sealed.

Despite reporters pointing out that the cast had been trying to get the show renewed for Blue Bloods Season 15, Reisenbach shut down any speculation of keeping the show alive.
