Based on Martha Wells’ bestselling book series The Murderbot Diaries, the 10-episode series is about a self-hacking security android who is horrified by human emotion yet drawn to its vulnerable “clients.” Murderbot must hide its free will and complete a dangerous assignment when all it really wants is to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe.

It hails from Entertainment One and Ucp and is also executive produced by JaNeika & JaSheika James (Empire), Drew Comins via his eOne-based Creative Engine Entertainment and Charles Murray (Sons of Anarchy). Blige, who was just tapped as star of a Power spinoff series at Starz, will not headline Philly Reign, which had been developed as a potential starring vehicle for her, but may have a supporting/recurring role.

New Line has tapped André Øvredal to direct the feature adaptation of Stephen King’s dystopian thriller “The Long Walk.”
Øvredal’s credits include mystery thriller “The Autopsy of Jane Doe” and the upcoming horror film “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark,” co-written and produced by Guillermo del Toro and releasing on Aug. 9. James Vanderbilt has written the adaptation.
Producers of “The Long Walk” are Vanderbilt, Bradley Fischer and William Sherak. “The Long Walk” was originally published by King under the pseudonym Richard Bachman in 1979. He began work on it in 1966 while he was a student at the University of Maine.
The novel is set in the near future and centers on 100 teenage boys embarking on an annual competition known as “The Long Walk,” during which participants must maintain a walking speed above four miles per hour. If they receive three warnings in an hour, they are shot dead.

Exclusive: On the heels of Cobra Kai‘s Season 3 renewal by YouTube, creators/executive producers Jon Hurwitz, Josh Heald and Hayden Schlossberg have signed a three-year overall deal with the studio behind the hit series, Sony Pictures Television.
Under the pact, the trio will develop comedy, drama and unscripted TV projects based on original ideas, concepts from other writers, and existing Sony IP via their newly formed Counterbalance Entertainment banner.
