This article contains Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga spoilers.
It all begins with a a peach. That is the first thing audiences are asked to bear witness to at the start of George Miller’s long-awaited Furiosa. And it’s this simple luxury for which young Furiosa (Alyla Browne) will soon be cast out of paradise. Never one to make a play toward subtlety, even when he strives for plenty of nuance, Miller knows exactly what kind of loaded comparisons he’s demanding audiences to make. A girl; a red, ripe piece of fruit; and a forbidden act that invites lifelong punishment. Despite being only a child, Furiosa’s action will cause her to be stolen from her mother (Charlee Fraser), her sister, and the beloved Green Place. She will then spend the next 20 years desperate to get back to that land, but as viewers hopefully remember from Mad Max: Fury Road,...

Twenty years ago, Troy and its cast made its mark on epic filmmaking. Director Wolfgang Petersen’s take on Homer’s Iliad featured an ensemble cast led by Brad Pitt and created a wildly entertaining, if not entirely accurate, movie.
Working from a script by future Games of Thrones showrunner David Benioff, the Troy cast brought to life legends like Achilles, Helen of Troy, and Hector. Eric Bana, Orlando Bloom, and Diane Kruger were among those who joined Pitt in the impressive cast. While many of the actors haven’t made another film on Troy‘s scale, they continue to perform in blockbuster movies 20 years later.

This article contains spoilers for both "Shōgun" the 2024 TV show and the 1975 novel.
When I first finished James Clavell's novel "Shōgun," the comparison that immediately came to mind was Homer's "Iliad." The epic Greek poem is famous for recounting the events of the Trojan War, a war that is still famous thousands of years later. I was hardly an expert at Greek mythology before reading "The Iliad," but going in I already knew two big events: that the fierce warrior Achilles (who was portrayed by Brad Pitt in Wolfgang Petersen's "Troy") died near the end of the Trojan War, and that the Greek soldiers won by hiding inside a giant wooden horse and tricking the Trojans into letting them behind their city walls.
The latter was the big moment I was looking forward to. The Trojan horse is such an iconic image; it's still referenced constantly in...

Welcome to Wtf Happened to Troy? If we’re talking about the best historical cinematic epics of all time, what are the first few titles that leap to mind? Kubrick’s Spartacus? Lean’s Lawrence of Arabia? Maybe Gibson’s Braveheart? Whatever the answer is, chances are, despite earning half a billion dollars worldwide, Wolfgang Petersen’s Troy isn’t likely the first movie that tops the list. But why is that? After all, Troy was not only a monumental box office hit but also fared pretty well among critics and general filmgoers alike. Moreover, with Homer’s timeless tale of The Iliad guiding the way, it would seem as though Troy would resonate longer in the public’s collective consciousness and rank among the all-time best and most durable biographical epics. Yet, despite the impressive size, scale, and scope of the big-screen spectacle that chronicles the intense war between...

Brad Pitt has usually been in tip top shape for his roles. But he showed just how fit he was in Fury when he hung with a much younger co-star during a physical fight.
Brad Pitt showed his younger ‘Fury’ co-star that he was still in ‘Fight Club’ shape Brad Pitt | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
Pitt worked alongside several younger actors when he starred in David Ayer’s Fury. His castmates at the time included the likes of Shia Labeouf, Scott Eastwood, and Logan Lerman. Given the nature of the war film, tensions occasionally ran high between the actors on set. Labeouf and Eastwood famously almost came to blows, with Pitt having to break up the impending fight between the two.
Pitt also once got involved in the action. It turned out, Ayer would frequently pit the actors against each other in regulated fights. After seeing what Pitt was still capable of,...

It’s never easy to adapt a written work of over 300 pages that would be at least an 8–10-hour read into a 2-hour movie, but the industry does this more often than you’d imagine. You may be surprised to realize how many of your favorite movies and shows were actually originally novels. I mean, it makes full sense considering there’s already an existing fan base for the characters and the bonds they’ve formed within the book, even though that also means a kind of pressure to impress. Red, White, and Royal Blue is an immersive experience because of how it navigates between the two main characters as well as all the other people in their lives that make their relationship possible.
What’s lacking in the movie is the presence of two very important characters in the book: June, Alex’s sister, and Henry’s mother. I...

Milos Raonic, who previously rose to number three in the Atp rankings, could be in line to make a shock return to professional tennis for the 2023 grass season.
Raonic last played competitive tennis at the Atalanta Open in June 2021 and hasn't featured since, despite some suggestions that he would return during the 2022 campaign. However, an ongoing Achilles injury has caused ongoing problems for the 32-year-old and he has remained on the sidelines to recover.
The long period of absence has led to speculation about Raonic's future and some believed the Canadian player had retired. But, in the latest development, the former world number three appears to be targetting a sensational comeback for the 2023 grass season, according to journalist John Horn.
"Hearing a loose rumour that Milos Raonic May be planning to play tennis again this summer...on the grass."

The following article contains spoilers for "Shazam! Fury of the Gods."
"Shazam! Fury of the Gods" is in theaters now, and if you've seen it, you know how much it relies on characters and creatures from Greek mythology. Of course, there have been some changes, but from the Daughters of Atlas to Ladon the dragon to manticores, harpies, minotaurs, cyclops, and unicorns, there is a lot of fun lore in here.
In the film, the Daughters of Atlas have come from the Realm of the Gods to find a dangerous artifact — a golden apple from the tree in the Garden of the Hesperides — which could destroy our world. The Shazamily, led by Billy Batson (Asher Angel), aka Shazam (Zachary Levi), have to take them down before they wreck the realm with beings only spoken of in stories and lore. Shazam, the character, is already connected to Greek myth, of course,...

“Shazam! Fury of the Gods” director David F Sandberg will miss the premiere of his own movie after citing that he caught Covid: “I finally caught that bastard.”
“Sadly I won’t be going to the Shazam premiere tonight because I finally caught Covid. Had to travel all over Europe and talk to a ton of entertainment journalists but I finally caught that bastard!” Sandberg revealed on Twitter on Tuesday.

It was just four years ago when DC‘s youngest superhero burst onto the screen in David F. Sandberg’s delightful Shazam! Since then, the world has changed in unimaginable ways. But when Den of Geek magazine speaks to the director of the comedic superhero romp and its upcoming sequel, he shares that the story of Billy Batson and his superheroic adult alter ego has been his one constant. “It’s kind of weird because I haven’t done anything else in between. I did Shazam and then [the sequel] straight after—and yeah, there was the Covid break—but it feels like it’s just continued on.”
After years spent crafting the sequel and living through a pandemic, Sandberg is excited that Shazam! Fury of the Gods is finally finished. “I’m very eager for people to see it,...

DC's "Black Adam" props up Teth-Adam (Dwayne Johnson) as an unconventional super-powered being who reluctantly winds up in a position to protect the modern world from evil. Despite his undefined stance on heroism, Teth-Adam teams up with the Justice Society to stop the Intergang from acquiring a crown of primordial power connected to the demon champion, Sabbac. After Intergang's leader, Ishmael (Marwan Kenzari), manipulates events to trigger the rebirth of Sabbac in his host body, Black Adam and the Justice Society of America attempt to fight this super-powered, awakened demon who seems to be powerful beyond measure. The battle is rife with hurdles, but dogged determination and sacrifice allow Teth-Adam and the others to overpower and kill Sabbac.
