This Star Trek: Discovery article contains spoilers.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine earned its position as a favorite series among fans because of its more complex take on the franchise’s themes, thrusting the United Federation of Planets into a huge war that tested its moral compass time and again. But even at the height of the Dominion War, DS9 also found time to follow Jake and Nog’s search for a baseball card and to check in on a holographic Rat Pack lounge singer.
But even within that wide range of possibilities, the season three episode “Facets” stands out as an oddball. Written by René Echevarria and directed by Cliff Bole, “Facets” introduced the Zhian’tara ritual, through which Trill hosts find closure for their symbiotes by spreading host personalities to others.

American Gods Season 2 Episode 8
One of the biggest moments in mass media history has never even been hinted at on American Gods, and it took New Media long enough to latch on to one of Old Media's most successful stunts. On October 30th, 1938, Orson Welles and the Mercury Theater on the Air program scared Americans to no end with a realistic, gripping take on an alien invasion the likes of which never happened before and has never happened since. October 30, 1938, a young dramatist and his company of actors took an adaptation of H.G. Wells and made history, scaring the daylights out of Americans coast to coast and causing a panic in those unlucky enough to catch the program after the opening.

“American Gods” is returning with a new showrunner.
The Fremantle-produced Starz television series based on the Neil Gaiman novel has officially been picked up for a third season and has tapped Charles “Chic” Eglee to lead the season as showrunner and executive producer. The news comes less than a week after the show launched its second season.
Eglee’s credits include “Hemlock Grove,” “The Walking Dead,” “Dexter,” and “The Shield.” He is repped by CAA and Gendler & Kelly.
He will now be the third showrunner at the helm of the series. Bryan Fuller and Michael Green served as co-showrunners during the first season but departed over clashes with Fremantle over the show’s budget and creative direction. Jesse Alexander shepherded “Gods” through its second season, but he was reportedly sidelined during production without being officially let go.

“American Gods” Season 2 is coming soon to Starz, and while rumors of chaos behind the scenes have made news over the past year, executive producer Neil Gaiman says that the returning show “still looks and feels like ‘American Gods.'”
Bryan Fuller and Michael Green, the original showrunners of the Starz drama based on Gaiman’s book, left the series after completing Season 1 and writing scripts for a second season; they were succeeded by “Heroes” executive producer Jesse Alexander, who reportedly left the series at the end of Season 2.
At the Television Critics Association press tour, Gaiman — who was the only executive producer present for the panel — pointed to the continued work of second unit director Chris Byrne as one reason why the show “feels like the same show that we had in Season 1.” Also a factor was, in Gaiman’s words, the “amazing actors” who continued with the series,...

Almost two years and showrunner changes since the first season of “American Gods” wrapped up on Starz, the second season is set to debut in a way that is a “really great way back to the book,” according to series star Ian McShane.
“We needed to get back to the line in the book,” he said at the Television Critics Assn. press tour panel for the drama Tuesday. “The characters you were invested in needed exploring more. … Gaiman wrote a great blueprint for a TV series that can go wherever it wants as long as it remains true to the roots of faith.”
Neil Gaiman, who wrote the book on which the show is based and serves as executive producer on the show, noted that he was on-board with the show from before original showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green were attached, so he got to watch them lead and...

An almost two-minute trailer for Season 2 of American Gods is out, showcasing the ongoing squabbles between the Old Gods and New Gods.
Based on the Nail Gaiman novel, the show will have its Season 2 bow on Sunday, March 10 at 8 Pm Et/Pt on Starz.
American Gods stars Ricky Whittle as Shadow Moon and Ian McShane as Mr. Wednesday. The one-hour drama centers on a war brewing between Old Gods and New Gods, as the traditional gods of mythological roots from around the world steadily lose believers. Their challengers are an upstart pantheon of gods reflecting society’s modern love of money, technology, media, celebrity and drugs.
In Season 2, the battle moves toward a crisis point, as the destinies of gods and men collide. While Mr. World plots revenge for the attack against him in the first season, Shadow throws in his lot...

We briefly got Bryan Fuller's perspective on his and Michael Green's departure from Season 2.
American Gods, hoo boy.
We have no idea how American Gods Season 2 got made, but it did. We also have no idea who ran the show. It might have been Season 1's 2nd unit director, Chris Byrne, but perhaps not officially. Jesse Alexander, who was in a producing role on both Star Trek: Discovery and Hannibal, was set to take over showrunning duties, but then was "sidelined" as Starz's continuing adaptation of Neil Gaiman's novel built up steam.
The man behind the source material even had to publicly deny he was the one really in charge behind the scenes at one point! We'd imagine everyone involved in Season 2 could write their own book about the behind the scenes business on this one.

His brutal efficiency and technique just may get him the answers to his curious questions.
Jesse Alexander joined American Gods as executive producer and new showrunner for Season 2, replacing Bryan Fuller and Michael Green. He executive produces alongside Gaiman, Ian McShane, Craig Cegielski, Scott Hornbacher and Fmna’s Stefanie Berk. Chris Byrne is directing the premiere episode and will co-executive produce along with Heather Bellson and Rodney Barnes. Lisa Kussner will produce.
American Gods is produced by FremantleMedia North America.

Exclusive: “Is everyone in here a god?” asked Ricky Whittle’s Shadow Moon in the teaser for American Gods Season 2 that just dropped at New York Comic Con. “You’re in the fairytale now, aren’t ya?” says Pablo Schreiber’s surly Mad Sweeney later in the fast-paced video, the first significant look at the returning Starz series based on Neil Gaiman’s acclaimed 2001 novel. (Check out the exclusive look at American Gods’ second season above.)

Starz’s American Gods has “fired but not fired” (as one source puts it) Season 2 showrunner Jesse Alexander in the wake of ongoing production issues, delays and script doctoring being performed by frustrated cast members.
The former Hannibal executive producer had been brought onto the series as co-showrunner in February, to operate alongside American Gods author Neil Gaiman and succeed series co-creators Bryan Fuller and Michael Green (who exited the series last November over “creative differences”). Gaiman, however, has since directed his focus to Amazon’s Good Omens, another adaptation of Gaiman’s work.

Exclusive: American Gods has started work on its second season and according to Neil Gaiman, they are ready to rock – literally.
As you can see from the behind-the-scenes video above and the photo here, Ian McShane, Ricky Whittle, Yetide Badaki, Orlando Jones and more members the self- described God Squad have began production this month on the sophomore run of the Starz series at Wisconsin’s famed House on the Rock. Featured in Gaiman’s 2001 award-winning mythological novel on which the drama is based and glimpsed briefly via signage at the end of Season 1, the real-life Badger State tourist attraction is a major player in the tale along with McShane’s perpetually shifty Mr. Wednesday and Whittle’s Shadow Moon.
With its premiere directed by Hannibal and Star Trek Discovery alum Chris Byrne, the eight-episode second season of American Gods is expected to air in 2019, as Whittle says in the Bts clip.

Hannibal may have aired its series finale on NBC tonight, but that doesn’t mean executive producer Bryan Fuller is done telling the story of the cannibalistic Dr. Lecter and his friends, frenemies and potential “dinner dates.”
“It’s not over until I’m dead, as far as I’m concerned,” Fuller says of his dream to continue this particular yarn — either through a fourth season on a new network, or (more likely) via a big-screen spinoff.
