Stephen King's literary works have produced some of the greatest films of all time including Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining," Brian De Palma's "Carrie," and Rob Reiner's "Stand By Me." Over 70 of his novels and short stories have been adapted into films or television shows, but since he is such a prolific writer — often churning out several books each year — there are countless that have yet to be adapted. This list ranks seven of Stephen King's engrossing page-turners...

Hard Case Crime previously published two of my favorite Stephen King novels—The Colorado Kid and Joyland—so I'm thrilled that they've teamed up with King once again to publish his new book, Later. With the supernatural noir now available in paperback, audio, and digital (ahead of its limited edition hardcover release on March 30th), we've been provided with an excerpt to share with Daily Dead readers!

Press Release: Hard Case Crime, the award-winning line of pulp-styled crime novels published by Titan Books, will publish Later, a brand-new novel by Stephen King, on March 2, 2021.
Later tells the story of Jamie Conklin, a boy whose unusual abilities could aid his single mom and her police detective lover – but only at a terrible cost.

Stephen King is helping a group of young writers publish a book.
According to The Associated Press, the Maine native’s foundation is covering $6,500 for a 290-page manuscript from students in the Author Studies Program at Lewiston, Maine’s Farwell Elementary School. (The students reportedly launched a Kickstarter to raise the money, but the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation offered to help after learning of the project.)
The students took a unique approach to storytelling, starting with Gary Savage’s 2016 book, Fletcher McKenzie and the Passage to Whole — about a...

When news of the Covid-19 pandemic broke earlier this year, people began readily comparing it to Stephen King’s 1978 post-apocalyptic novel, The Stand. Roughly six months into the U.S. falling victim to the virus, and CBS All Access has announced that a new nine-part The Stand series drops on December 17th.
Coincidentally, the show was forced to wrap production in March when the U.S. went into lockdown mode, according to Vanity Fair, but CBS is now ready to introduce King’s classic novel to a new audience.

We may be currently living through Stephen King’s The Stand, but come March, the acclaimed horror novelist promises a new narrative — at least in terms of fiction. Monday, he teased a new book titled Later with the tagline: “Only the dead have no secrets.”

Sometimes Growing Up
Means Facing Your Demons
The son of a struggling single mother, Jamie Conklin just wants an ordinary childhood. But Jamie is no ordinary child. Born with an...
