Match #1: Wes Lee def. Josh Briggs The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The King of the West Side is back in Nxt as Wes Lee made his triumphant return to action against the big and bad Josh Briggs. Lee didn’t miss a beat in his return using his athleticism and his speed to disorient the much bigger Briggs, but he still took a couple of major hits from his bruising opponent. Briggs focused his attention on Lee’s back while Ivar made his way to commentary, but Lee dug deep and refused to give in. The former dominant North American Champion finally regained control before hitting a corkscrew moonsault and earning the win in his return.

The 31st edition of London’s Raindance Film Festival will open with the U.K. premiere of British actor Jack Huston’s directorial debut “Day of the Fight.”
The film comes to Raindance fresh off its Venice debut, where Huston was honored by Variety as a breakthrough director.
The story of a once-renowned boxer who takes a redemptive journey through his past and present on the day of his first fight since he left prison stars Michael Pitt alongside a cast including Ron Perlman, Joe Pesci, and a cameo from Steve Buscemi.
The U.K. premiere of Isabel Coixet’s “Un Amor” will close the festival after it bows at San Sebastian. Based on Sara Mesa’s bestselling novel, Laia Costa plays a young woman who escapes her stressful life in the city and relocates to rural Spain. When she accepts a disturbing sexual proposal, it gives rise to an all-consuming and obsessive passion.

If you remember the ad campaigns for Avengers: Infinity War, the commercials promised a very different climax. The trailer showed a team of heroes running along the fields of Wakanda, wading into battle against the hordes of Thanos. Led by Captain America and T’Challa, they rushed into the fight, joined by Okoye, Bucky, Black Widow, War Machine, and the Hulk. And yet, when audiences sat down to watch the climactic fight scene, they didn’t see the Hulk among them. Rather, it was Bruce Banner in Hulkbuster armor.
The armor was the result of a subplot throughout the Phase Three capping film, in which Hulk refused to come out after getting brutally beaten by Thanos at the start of Infinity War. Throughout the movie, Banner argues with “the other guy,” trying to Hulk out to help his fellow Avengers. For reasons that only make sense to Kevin Feige, the...

Marvel and Disney’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania may have stayed atop the domestic box office chart in its sophomore outing with $32.2 million, but the real superhero of the weekend was Universal’s high-concept genre pic Cocaine Bear.
Directed by Elizabeth Banks, Cocaine Bear opened to $23.1 million after stealing away younger adults — and particularly males — from the Ant-Man threequel. Overseas, it sniffed out $5.3 million for an early global total of $28.4 million.
Ant-Man 3 fell 69.7 percent in North America, the worst decline ever for a title in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after eclipsing Black Widow‘s 67.8 percent drop (the latter pic had the disadvantage of opening during the pandemic, and was made available simultaneously in the home).
The Ant-Man threequel also suffered the worst second-weekend drop of any superhero film opening to $100 million or more. DC’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice previously sat in the hot seat at 69.1 percent.

"Invincible," the animated series based on the hit comic book series by "The Walking Dead" co-creator Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, was a major success for Prime Video. But what to read between seasons if you can't get enough of bombastic teenaged superheroics? Well, there are at least 14 different comic books that should scratch that itch, including both series that influenced "Invincible" as well as stories that have something to say about the world of superheroes — and the one we live in.
Of course, it goes without saying that one of the titles that should be on your reading list is "Invincible" itself. The series wrapped up in 2018, so it's a complete saga — just be aware that you'll be spoiling the rest of the animated series for yourself! That's hardly a problem, though; this is a story that's worth experiencing twice.

Well, that's definitely one way to keep the dreaded specter of "superhero fatigue" at bay for just a little while longer. As if that weren't exciting enough, however, the report describes his role as "not only significant to this film but a major role going forward in future films." Marvel comics are known for their stylish drawings, bold colors, and dynamic splash pages, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe has achieved incredible box office success utilizing expensive VFX, razor-sharp fight choreography, and a parade of recognizable faces. But how do you create a sprawling, action-packed Marvel project without using any of that? This was the challenge Marvel faced when it decided to develop a six-season scripted podcast featuring some of its most beloved superheroes and villains but in a surprising new context.
The denizens of Marvel’s Wastelanders are living in an alternate future Marvel timeline where the villains have ultimately won, and very few heroes have lived to tell the tale. In this new world order, Wolverine, Hawkeye, and Black Widow are scattered—either in hiding or as shadows of their former selves.

The first Avengers movie may feel like small potatoes now compared to the increasing scope of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga. But even as we see more and more heroes team-up to fight against forces that seek to control the multiverse, there’s no denying the impact that The Avengers still has on fans to this day. Maybe it’s because I was fourteen when I saw it for the first time, but the now iconic shot of the original six Avengers standing together during the Battle of New York is seared in my memory to this day as one of the coolest MCU team-up moments. This scene may not be as epic as the portals scene in Avengers: Endgame or as tense as the airport fight in Captain America: Civil War, but for many Marvel fans this was the first time we saw a team-up of this scale on the big screen.

While talking about his association with Audible and his experience narrating his character, actor Saif Ali Khan said: “Star-Lord, a beloved and roguishly charming hero’s story is an against-all-odds story of survival and redemption.”

Welcome to this review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly… We’ve got stories continuing from the Royal Rumble And a build Elimination Chamber so let’s get into it!
Match #1: Damian Priest def. Angelo Dawkins The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Before the match, WWE Official Adam Pearce ordered everyone surrounding the ring to go to the backstage area, allowing this match to be contested one-on-one. In the early goings, Angelo Dawkins threw Damian Priest over the announce table, proving he meant business in this Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match. Priest bounced back fairly quickly, hitting a Broken Arrow followed by a Bell Clap. Dawkins gave it his all, hitting a superb Swanton Bomb but could only achieve a two-count. Priest grabbed the victory with a South of Heaven to make the Elimination Chamber even more judgmental than it already was.

Ant-Man star Evangeline Lilly has expressed the belief she needs her own standalone Marvel film.
The actor, who shot the fame as Kate Austen in Lost, has been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) since 2015’s Ant-Man.
Since then, she has appared in Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2020).
Lilly will next be seen in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which Marvel fans are sharing their verdicts on following its US premiere.
Speaking on the red carpet, Lilly said she feels like an “Avengers senior”, and said she is going to make it known that she would like her character, Hope van Dyne, to have her own MCU film.
“Well, I’m going to make a pitch that I think it might be time for a Hope spin-off... for a Wasp standalone film,” she told Variety.
She added: “Do we agree? Anybody? Going once... going twice.”

You thought that Thanos was a mighty foe? Pah. As Kang The Conqueror takes centre stage in Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania, the McU's titchiest hero is about to face an epic threat.

Who is the most important hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? It’s a question that could prompt the kind of discussion you’d expect to rage for ages around an office water-cooler (the work can wait), or over a round of drinks, or with the person sitting next to you on a bus (Nb: this is a foolproof method of making sure that nobody wants to sit next to you on the bus). Is it Tony Stark, the rock on which the MCU was built? Or maybe the indefatigable Steve Rogers? How about Thor, or Black Widow, or Captain Marvel,...

Can anyone imagine the Marvel Cinematic Universe without Chris Hemsworth‘s Thor? As of now, he is currently the only original Avenger who is still active. We have lost Iron Man and Black Widow, Captain America has happily retired, Hawkeye has passed the torch to Kate Bishop, and Hulk isn’t exactly Hulk anymore. Well, he’s Professor Hulk, and it seems he’s more content with being more of a mentor figure to upstart heroes. As for the other Avengers, they may be dead or retired, but we have to remember that this is still a cinematic universe based on Marvel Comics. Nobody

It’s extremely impolite to release a film like “M3GAN” in the first weekend of the calendar year. Early January is a time that’s usually reserved for unremarkable or awful genre films like “Underworld: Blood Wars” or the re-quel of “The Grudge.” But “M3GAN” is actually a good movie, and it shouldn’t be tainted by this association with the typical winter doldrums.
Actually, “M3GAN” is more than just a good movie: It’s a great one. Gerard Johnstone (“Housebound”) and screenwriter Akela Cooper (“Malignant”) have crafted a frighteningly fun and excitingly creepy horror-comedy that holds up to scrutiny. It’s thematically rich and emotionally resonant. Maybe 2023 will be a pretty good year after all; “M3GAN” gives us hope.
Allison Williams stars as Gemma, a single, career-focused toy designer whose life gets thrown into upheaval when her sister and brother-in-law suddenly die. Gemma is given custody of her niece,...
