Struggling to survive in unfamiliar territory can be a daunting experience for anyone, even for a trained fighter pilot. But the process can be even more terrifying for a rookie who must battle an enemy alien soldier on a foreign planet by herself. That’s certainly the case for actress Phoebe Sparrow’s character of Adler in […]

One of the best science fiction films of the year, Dune Drifter is an object lesson for all low budget filmmakers. The plot may be simple, the effects work in the opening section may look a bit rough, but the acting is superb and director Marc Price creates a powerful atmosphere. The result punches well above its weight.
We open with a battle. Adler (Phoebe Sparrow) is one of several people flying small, two person spaceships on what is supposed to be a straightforward mission, but when they are ambushed by the enemy, chaos ensues. Crash landing on a nearby planet, Adler manages to set up an emergency survival tent and drag her injured colleague into it, but they have limited oxygen supplies and changing military manoeuvres may lave them without hope of rescue. The only hope comes from an enemy ship which has crashed a few miles away. If Adler.

"There's something else down here with me." 4Digital Media has released an official trailer for an indie sci-fi survival thriller titled Dune Drifter, from genre filmmaker Marc Price. This originally premiered at FrightFest in London earlier this year, and also played at the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival. The logo on the poster is obviously trying to connect to Dune (which has since been delayed from its date in December) even though the plot of this has absolutely nothing to do with Dune. After a devastating orbital space battle, the survivor of a crashed star-fighter must navigate the harsh environment of a desolate planet to save herself before her life support expires. Starring Phoebe Sparrow as the sole survivor, Adler, with an indie cast including Daisy Aitkens, Simon Dwyer-Thomas, Alastair Kirton, Richard Corgan, Marcus Shakesheff, and Charlotte Mounter. This looks pretty damn good, and thankfully the trailer doesn't give away too much.

4.5 And The Winner Is…
“What’s more important, awards or a massive audience?” I asked Inside No. 9’s creators in 2017. Simultaneously, without missing a beat, “Awards!” they answered to a chorus of laughs. “Can’t put an audience on your shelf!” said Pemberton.
However serious that answer, it’s not a stretch to see why TV awards-giving might be ripe for satire here. Inside No. 9 has won a number of prizes (Rose d’Or, Rts, Writers’ Guild, Banff Rockies, comedy.co.uk…), but there’s still a baffling gap where a Bafta might be. It’s a matter of genre, Reece Shearsmith suggested. As a dramatic comedy/comedic drama, Inside No. 9...

Filming is well underway on the fourth series of the brilliant Inside No. 9. Here's who to expect among the guest cast...
Series one and two of Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith's consistently inventive, continually surprising anthology strand Inside No. 9 have recently landed on Netflix UK, which will hopefully bring it to the attention of those who didn't catch it on the first run. If you're among them, then run, don't walk, etc. It's simply one of the best shows around.

And thrillingly, more of it is incoming. Hot on the heels of the recently aired third series, filming is already well underway on a fourth, to comprise six new standalone stories.
