For two seasons on The Chi, Barton Fitzpatrick’s character, Reg, became one of the most likable villains on TV. Despite the fact that he sold drugs and partook in some other unsavory activities, he was still a great big brother who always looked out for his family. HBO announced “2 Dope Queens,” featuring Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson, will return next year for a second series of four hour-long specials. NBC’s Chicago Med is staffing up: Molly Bernard (Younger) and newcomer Colby Lewis are joining the Season 4 cast on a recurring basis, according to our sister site Deadline.
Both will play third-year medical students beginning their clinical rotations. Bernard plays Elsa, an arrogant know-it-all, and Lewis plays Terry, a star football player who gave up sports to go to medical school. Med‘s fourth season debuts Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 8/7c.

Shamon Brown Jr. Barton Fitzpatrick and Michael Epps, who recurred as Papa, Reg and Jake, respectively, in Season 1, have been promoted to series regulars for the second season of the drama series, created and executive produced by Lena Waithe (Master of None), and executive produced by Common (Selma). The Chi is currently in production in Chicago and will return for Season 2 in 2019.

In a Gold Derby exclusive, we have learned the category placements of the key Emmy Awards contenders for Showtime. For this season, the premium network has newcomers “The Chi” (Jason Mitchell) and “Smilf” (Frankie Shaw), returning Emmy contenders “Homeland” (Claire Danes) and “Shameless” (William H.
