Philippe’s newly released con faces heavy pressure not to go straight as his family grows ever more estranged and the film runs low on fresh ideas
The plot manoeuvres in this léger noir are so boilerplate and predictable that viewers are likely to find themselves expecting much bigger twists than are actually delivered. Surely that nice guy will turn out to be a double-crosser, you assume? Or you might imagine one of the vampy women will turn out to be a triple-crossing femme fatale. But no, it’s all pretty much on the level, which makes the snippets of classic Hollywood crime thrillers such as Touch of Evil, just glimpsed on a TV set, feel seriously undermining, gesturing as they do towards much more sophisticated works of cinema than we have here.

The Locksmith is a movie directed Nicolas Harvard starring Ryan Phillippe and Kate Bosworth.
This is a movie that doesn´t try or attempt to escape from the clichés it is born into.
The actors who are pretty good can´t escape from a screenplay that does not want any interpretations.
Movie Review The Locksmith
Everything in The Locksmith is something we have heard about before, from the story of the good criminal with a bad friend, but a nice guy, the ex-wife and above all, the story of a criminal forced to get involved in shady deals after leaving prison.
The Locksmith is a movie we have all seen a thousand times, and this time, although it is not a bad film, is just another part of this same repeated story so that, once again, one can make some cash with “what the audience demands” in this American story that,...

“The Locksmith” has the right elements for a crime thriller: an ex-con seeking revenge and being chased by a vengeful cop while trying to protect his family. Ryan Phillippe plays the title character, Miller, introduced in the middle of a robbery. Things go wrong and his cohort gets killed. Flash forward 10 years, and he’s out of prison. In the present, he reconnects with his daughter (Madeleine Guilbot) who’s in the care of her policewoman mother (Kate Bosworth). Of course he will be pulled back for one last job where things will go wrong.
Nicolas Harvard’s directorial debut is a strictly-by-the numbers crime thriller, where every plotline is gleaned from a mile away. In its straightforward story, “The Locksmith” has Miller dealing with a corrupt cop (Jeffrey Nordling), as he tries to help the sister of his slain old friend (Gabriela Quezada). Ving Rhames appears as another friend,...

"I owe her!" "Not like that…" Screen Media Films has revealed an official trailer for a con thriller titled The Locksmith, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Nicolas Harvard. Arriving in both theaters and on VOD to watch this February. A thief fresh out of prison, tries to work his way back into the life of his daughter and ex-fiancé, with the help of an old friend named Frank. Determined to move on from his past, he is forced to use the skills he has as a gifted locksmith. Things take a tumultuous turn after an unexpected disappearance. The film stars Ryan Phillippe as Miller Graham, with Kate Bosworth, Ving Rhames, Jeffrey Nordling, Gabriela Quezada, Madeleine Guilbot, Noel Gugliemi, and Charlie Weber. We are grateful to Mr. Michael Jai White for taking the time to sit down with us so that we may bring you this interview where we talk about his new film, As Good As Dead, his past projects (like Black Dynamite), and a couple of hints about what he’s been working on and what we can look forward to!
One of the most prolific names in action cinema is Michael Jai White. He made his incredible mark by taking on a complex role in his breakthrough performance as Mike Tyson in the HBO original film, Tyson, which can still be viewed on HBO Max. He was the first and only actor to date to bring the cult comic superhero Spawn to life on the big screen. And today, you can see him in his new action film, in which he stars and wrote, titled As Good As Dead.

A film by the brothers Pierce (Bret and Drew), The Wretched is a horror flick about a teenage kid named Ben who goes to battle with an ancient witch who is living beneath the skin of the woman next door. That’s the summary, the plot synopsis, the nut-shell on the back of the VHS cover (erm… Blu-ray case) but there’s much more to The Wretched than that.
Ben (John-Paul Howard) is struggling with dealing with his parents’ divorce, and is staying with his Dad in a seaside town for the summer. Their relationship is strained and Ben is doing his best to mingle with the locals in order to get through his time away from home.
