Danny Dyer stars alongside creator and writer Ryan Sampson in Mr Bigstuff, and here’s the trailer for the new sitcom.
Danny Dyer may be better known these days as Mick Carter in EastEnders, but before that, he’d been a steady presence in British film for over two decades, from his debut in Justin Kerrigan’s Human Traffic through The Football Factory and Severance.
The one thing Dyer had never done was lead a sitcom – until now. Mr Bigstuff is created and written by Ryan Sampson, who’s perhaps best known for starring alongside Nicholas Lyndhurst and Celia Imrie in BBC sitcom After You’ve Gone, and for co-starring in ITV2 sitcom Plebs.
The synopsis, per the British Comedy Guide, reads as follows:
Mr Bigstuff explores broken families, fragile masculinity and carpet sales. It tells the story of two estranged brothers; Glen (Ryan Sampson), a nervy perfectionist striving to live...

"We don't run from our problems." Sky TV has revealed an official UK trailer for a comedy series titled Mr. Bigstuff, arriving to watch in the UK starting this July (though no US launch yet). The series stars actor Danny Dyer, best known for his various "tough guy" roles like Moff in Human Traffic, Tommy Johnson in The Football Factory, and Mick Carter in Eastenders. When two estranged brothers Glen (Ryan Sampson) and Lee (Danny Dyer) find themselves under one roof in "idyllic" suburbia, their lives start to unravel faster than a cheap carpet. Glen is a nervy perfectionist and carpet salesman striving to live a suburban ideal and Lee is an alpha male with a prescription drug addiction and a tin full of their dad's ashes. Written & created by Ryan Sampson, this "relatable, irreverent comedy about brotherhood, manhood and carpet sales" is set in Essex. Also with Harriet Webb,...

What’s your favourite Taskmaster task? Did it result in a delicious failure or a triumphant win? Was it a crafty solution from a cunning mind, or a bonkers, impractical response that could only have come from the brain of John Kearns?
We asked our writers to nominate their favourites, in order (and not including Prize Tasks because that’s already been covered here), and collated the results into the Top 50 below. With 15 series proper, two Champion of Champions specials, and multiple New Year’s Treat episodes, there were approximately 89,000 tasks to choose from, hence a nice, neat 50.
If you’re at all concerned about the scientific robustness of our approach, rest assured that Google Sheets formulas were used in the creation of this list, resulting in an entirely accurate ranking order that cannot be questioned. Well alright, you can question it.
So, what are the best Taskmaster tasks of all time?...

The Great British Bake Off has inspired countless aspiring bakers around the world to create inventive dishes for friends and family. Following in the footsteps of Bake-Off and MasterChef, entertainment juggernaut Taskmaster is launching a kids’ version. Junior Taskmaster will be coming to Channel 4 alongside six brand new series of the original show, due to air over the next three years. That’s what you call a good comedy harvest.
While Greg Davies and Alex Horne will remain in their golden thrones for the grown-up show, a brand new Taskmaster and assistant will be setting challenges and monitoring the child cohort. Their names will be announced in due course. Might we expect a past contestant or two to be taking the reins? James Acaster, with his history of cabbage-based vendettas against children, would be a solid fit for the big chair, while Judi Love could school the kids valuably in twisting the facts to their advantage.
Due to a distinct shortage of professional comedians aged nine to 11, the child contestants...

Whoopi Goldberg has shared an update on the status of Sister Act 3, as well as her desire to have Maggie Smith return in a central role.
The actor and comedian appeared on Friday’s (6 January) edition of Loose Women in a special interview with panellist Judi Love.
Goldberg spoke about a variety of topics, including the release of her new film Till, based on the true story of the racist killing of 14-year-old Emmett Till in the US in 1955.
She also discussed the long-discussed third film in the Sister Act series, and whether any new developments had taken place.
In Goldberg’s view, an essential part of whether the movie gets made depends on whether co-star Maggie Smith is willing to take part.
She explained: “You know, one of the things that I want to make sure I do while I'm here is… I want to let Maggie Smith...

Loose Women has been hit with dozens of Ofcom complaints from ITV viewers, over a comment made by presenter Katie Piper on the show.
The broadcasting regulator is understood to have received more than 60 complaints in response to the panellist’s reaction to a TikTok video showing a mother’s themed home interiors.
On a recent episode of the show, Katie Piper, 39, joined Kaye Adams, Judi Love and Nadia Swahala to discuss if parents should impose their lifestyle choices on their children.
The debate, sparked by a clip showing a family home inspired by Netflix’s hit show Wednesday, has resulted in 66 complaints to Ofcom, the regulator told The Independent.
The viral TikTok video saw Rebecca Hardy, who is married to former WWE American wrestler Matthew Moore Hardy, show viewers a “day in the life of a gothic baby”, showing the home’s Addams Family-inspired decor.

You never know a person until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes, and you never know a comedian until you’ve watched them walk through a doorway in the longest shoes, hastily fashioned out of drainpipes they found in the Taskmaster shed, and then argued about with Greg Davies for points. Taskmaster is a window into the souls of our nation’s clowns, and here’s whose souls we’ll be nosying into for series 14: Dara Ó Briain, Fern Brady, John Kearns, Munya Chawawa and Sarah Millican!
(No, it’s still not Richard Ayoade. Maybe we should try a gov.uk petition.)
It’s a very solid line-up of up-and-coming comics flanked by two household name comedians, and follows on from the second Champion of Champions special and Series 13’s excellent collection of Ardal O’Hanlon, Bridget Christie, Chris Ramsay, Judi Love (Judi. Love.) and Sophie ‘Don’t call me Ducker’ Duker.

Ding ding, everybody off the Taskmaster bus! New passengers incoming! Series 12 – which taught us that Victoria Coren-Mitchell never learned how to ride a bike, Guz Khan owns more framed portraits of himself than is sensible, Desiree Burch can’t burst a balloon with a fork to save her life, Morgana Robinson is able to get goose bumps at will and Alan Davies still has a Jonathan Creek wig in his loft – has reached its climax. One lucky winner has skipped away merrily with the Taskmaster’s gleaming head as a prize and plenty of time to prepare for the inevitable Series 11-15 Champion of Champions special. Meanwhile the other four have skipped away safe in the knowledge that nobody is ever again likely to ask them to sit on a cake.

WestEnd Films has launched a global sales campaign for Guillem Morales’ (“The Miniaturist”) revenge thriller “The Duchess of Malfi,” produced by Miriam Segal’s Good Films Collective (“Postcard Killings”). Based on John Webster’s classic Jacobean play, the feature adaptation was penned by Luke Garrett (“Ruby Strangelove Young Witch”).
Casting for the period drama is led by BAFTA-nominees Morfydd Clark (“Saint Maud”) and Sam Riley (“Control”) with BIFA-nominee Dominic Cooper (“Preacher”). Equally impressive is the film’s behind-the-scenes lineup, including Academy Award-nominated DoP Pawel Edelman (“The Pianist”), BAFTA-nominated costume designer Carlo Poggioli (“Cold Mountain”), and Editor Joe Randall-Cutler (“I Hate Suzie”). Shooting will begin in November in Italy, with WestEnd set to present the film at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival virtual market.
