Mumbai, June 21 (Ians) The trailer of the upcoming anthology ‘Lust Stories 2’ was unveiled on Wednesday. It packs a heady punch of lust infused with humour and quirk.
The trailer is under 2 minutes in length and starts off with a dialogue by Neena Gupta’s character saying: “There’s a volcano like Mount Fuji inside the body. It gets satisfied once it erupts.”
It brings together four different stories by four different directors – Amit Ravindernath Sharma, Konkona Sen Sharma, R. Balki and Sujoy Ghosh – and stars Amruta Shubhash, Angad Bedi, Kajol, Kumud Mishra, Mrunal Thakur, Neena Gupta, Tamannaah Bhatia, Tillotama Shome and Vijay Varma.
Centred on the concept of lust in urban and rural India, the anthology showcases its many shades. While the trailer is filled with many moments that tickle the funny bone, it is Neena Gupta’s character of a cool daadi who takes the cake.

Acid attacks on women by spurned men are endemic in South Asia. Top Indian actor Deepika Padukone is debuting as a producer and headlining the cast of Disney-owned Fox Star Studios’ “Splash” (“Chhapaak”), a film that deals with the issue.
India’s Hindi-language film industry, known popularly — or pejoratively, depending on your point of view — as Bollywood, has very few women producers. Among the better known are actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas (“Ventilator”), Ekta Kapoor (“Dolly Kitty and Those Twinkling Stars”), Ashi Dua (“Ghost Stories”) and Krishika Lulla (“NH10”). Padukone, however, is loath to bring gender into the equation.
“I’ve turned producer because I want to enable some of the films that I do,” she tells Variety. “I’m not doing it because I’m a woman. At one of these press conferences, they spoke about ‘Splash’ being a female-centric film, for example. No, I’m not doing this film because it is female-centric.

Akshat Verma who will debut as a director with KaalaKaandi had an interesting and challenging experience working with a very talented ensemble. Kaalakaandi is a dark comedy based on three different stories in Mumbai where fate intertwines and destinies bump into each other. Kaalakaandi (a Marathi slang term for when things go disastrously wrong) is a story about life, death and karma!
With such an intriguing storyline, the director bought on board an eclectic starcast which includes Saif Ali Khan, Deepak Dobriyal, Vijay Raaz, Sobhita Dhulipala, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Akshay Oberoi, Shehnaz Treasury, Shivam Patil, Amyra Dastur, and Neil Bhoopalam.
Akshat Shares, “The challenge with an ensemble cast starts with the writing, where you’re juggling many more characters and trying to make them distinct and three dimensional. So for example, when you’re writing comedy, how do you give each character a distinct flavor instead of making them all sound the same.

Saif Ali Khan’s upcoming thrilling dark comedy Kaalakaandi revolves around one night where the lives of different people come together. To make this seem even more real, Director Akshat Verma thought it would be best to shoot the film in real locations in and around the streets of Mumbai.
Saif Ali Khan said, “I think Mumbai is really cinematic, and Akshat has shown it wonderfully. Bandra particularly has a lot of character and personality. You feel it’s shot in a real place and you feel that instant connect to the place. Otherwise when you only shoot on set, and don’t really know where the film is. So here one can tell that it’s got a grounding and reality like Mumbai, which is amazing because you feel the connection with all the characters more so because you know where they live.”

Having done a phenomenal job on the screenplay of Delhi Belly, Akshat Verma is gearing up for the release of his upcoming directorial venture Kaalakaandi.
The film comprises of an extremely talented bunch of actors including Saif Ali Khan, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Vijay Raaz, Deepak Dobriyal, Akshay Oberoi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Isha Talwar, Shenaz Treasury, Amyra Dastur and Neil Bhoopalam in a special appearance.
Working with an ensemble cast could be challenging, but Akshat did it with ease. In fact he had a great time bonding with all of them. “The most interesting thing about working with an ensemble cast is that every day is unpredictable because all these actors have a different way of working, a different way of approaching their scenes and also a different pace to how they come at it.”
“It serves to keep me on my toes in terms of how to configure my direction style to what they would bring.
