When the TV series based on the popular video game franchise Twisted Metal made its premiere on the Peacock streaming service back in July, it quickly became one of Peacock’s top five original series, racking up 400 million viewing minutes in its first weekend and earning the honor of being the streamer’s “most-binged” premiere. Now season 2 is moving full steam ahead, and showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith (who also happens to be a writer on Cobra Kai) has given Syfy Wire an update, saying the writers room has been assembled for season 2 and he feels they’re going to deliver something wild.
Smith is excited to be working with characters like Dollface, Mr. Grimm, and Axel, although working a couple of those into the grounded world established in the first season presents a challenge. As he said, “(Mr. Grimm) is my favorite and I’m excited to capture what the fans are excited about seeing,...

After a concerning lead-up to the show’s release, Sony‘s Twisted Metal is doing donuts around audience expectations! The car combat-oriented comedy series is Peacock’s “most-binged” comedy premiere, with the average account watching roughly three episodes per sitting, with some opting to knock the entire season out in one glorious shot. The Twisted Metal Peacock premiere is an outstanding sign for Sony’s future adaptations of popular gaming properties.
While NBCUniversal neglected to share the number of people tuning in for Twisted Metal, it stands to share similar success to Bel Air, The Best Man: Final Chapters, Poker Face, and Based on a True Story as one of Peacock’s top five original series. According to Nielsen, a global leader in audience insights, Twisted Metal locked and loaded 400M viewing minutes in the weekend following its July 27 premiere.

Five minutes into Peacock’s new horror comedy series “Twisted Metal,” it’s evident that the main character of John Doe – an amnesiac driver transporting goods across a war-torn nation – was written more as a vehicle for Anthony Mackie than for the gamers that sustained the original Sony Playstation franchise that inspired it.
Originally a wildly popular 1995 vehicular combat battle game, “Twisted Metal” has had over ten iterations and is the longest-running original title on the platform. The Peacock series is a live-action comedic adaptation created by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick and written by Michael Jonathan Smith (“Cobra Kai”).
Those looking for a faithful video game adaptation should hold their applause until the end. Unlike recent shows like “The Last of Us” or “Halo,” the source material for this show is too convoluted to be adapted directly. However, those looking for sequences of vehicular-related carnage should be pleased.

"It's rude not to introduce yourself before pulling a gun on someone." Buckle up, folks!! This looks gnarly. Peacock has revealed a full official trailer for the series Twisted Metal, an adaptation of the video game series of the same name. This one is being turned into a streaming series for Peacock to join the content era, but they're cranking it up with tons of violence and profanity, staying true the video game. Maybe it'll only be available after 10Pm? Ha. In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, John Doe, a talkative milkman with amnesia, is given a mission to traverse the desolate world to deliver a cryptic package in order to stay alive (and earn a better life). Alongside the assistance of "Quiet", a rash car thief, Doe faces a life-altering opportunity but must confront ruthless marauders in deadly and destructive vehicles to secure a chance at a better future. Peacock Original series “Twisted Metal” has unleashed a brand new “explicit” trailer this afternoon, labeled as such for one particularly gory scene featuring the villain Sweet Tooth.
The latest trailer for Peacock’s action-comedy series also puts the spotlight on the automobile action you’d expect from a “Twisted Metal” series, which surprisingly hasn’t been much of a focal point of the marketing up to this point. Watch the brand new trailer below.

Peacock has released a trailer for its forthcoming series Twisted Metal — two of them, actually, one of which is billed as a “clean version” and bleeps out a number of profanities.
But if you’re interested in a series based on the Twisted Metal video game series, a few curse words probably aren’t going to be an issue.
The trailer offers a much larger look at the series, which stars Anthony Mackie as delivery driver John Doe, than an earlier teaser did. John sets the scene with voiceover narration: “Twenty years ago, the world fell to shit. Cities put up walls to protect themselves and threw the criminals out to fight over what was left.”

Peacock's take on the Twisted Metal franchise looks to have nailed the tone of the beloved Playstation video game series.
The streaming service went public with the official trailer Monday morning, boasting a compelling post-apocalyptic tale with fine acting and comedy.
There's plenty of comedy, and the series has picked an excellent cast to tell this thrilling tale.
In this universe, the government erected big walls to close certain people out of the big cities, leaving everyone else to fight for what's outside.
It's a decent concept that seemingly translates very well to the screen.
Anthony Mackie plays John Doe on the series, a man well-known for finding things.
He's tasked with completing a missing for Neve Campbell's Raven, and his demands for payment aren't what you'd expect from someone battling for survival.
Along the way, he meets Stephanie Beatriz' Quiet, a lady who doesn't speak very much... until she's caught up in conflict.

Cobra Kai writer Michael Jonathan Smith is the showrunner of the live-action Twisted Metal series that’s coming to the Peacock streaming service – and Smith recently took to Twitter to confirm that filming on the first season of the show has already been completed. Smith said,
That’s a wrap on season one! The cast and crew of Twisted Metal was something special. Even with lightning delays, extreme heat, and cars that wouldn’t do as they’re told, everyone worked as hard as they could to make sure Twisted Metal kicked as much as possible. The last day of shooting felt like the last day of camp, with lots of laughs, a few tears, and ice cream being handed out the back of Sweet Tooth’s truck. We all cannot wait for you to see this insane thing we spent our summer shooting. Now, to post!

"Didn't you ever hear those old stories?" Who hasn't? Kamikaze Dogfight has released an official trailer for an indie horror film titled Backwoods, from filmmaker Thomas Smith. This sounds like old school escape-from-the-deranged-killer-in-theforest horror. High school cheerleader Molly woke bound and gagged in the trunk of her boyfriend's car. That was the high point of her night. After escaping her abductor and fleeing into the nearby forest, she comes face-to-face with the town urban legend: The Hangman, a deformed zealot said to hang male trespassers and keep the women as "brides". The film stars Isabella Alberti, Jeremy Sande, Tahj Vaughans, Micahel Anthony Bagozzi, Erin Liley, and Scott Alan Warner. This looks like a wannabe-slasher film, but I don't think this man-in-suit bad guy is going to become a new horror icon. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Thomas Smith's Backwoods, direct from YouTube: High school cheerleader Molly (Isabella Alberti...
