Given their first collaboration, Avengers: Infinity War, was a gangbuster at the box office, Chris Hemsworth has decided to reunite with Joe and Anthony Russo on the Netflix drama Dhaka.
According to Deadline, the Thor: Ragnarok star has signed on to portray a “physically brave” but “emotional coward” in the film, which will be penned by none other than Marvel Cinematic Universe mogul Joe Russo. Reportedly, Hemsworth will play a man who, amongst wrestling with “his identity and sense of self,” must liberate an Indian boy from capture.
Set in India, Dhaka will be produced by Joe and Anthony Russo under their Agbo banner. Also producing is Mike Larocca – executive producer on the upcoming Chadwick Boseman-led 17 Bridges – and Chris Hemsworth, through his Thematic Entertainment.
Behind the camera, long-time stunt coordinator Sam Hargrave – who served as the stunt double for Chris Evans in The First Avenger and The Winter Soldier – will make his directorial debut.

Exclusive: For a couple of guys whose summer entry Avengers: Infinity War became only the fourth ever to top $2 billion in worldwide ticket sales, and — at least until their sequel next summer — wiped out a good portion of the signature characters of the Marvel universe, Joe and Anthony Russo have been extreme multi-taskers, moving in overdrive to get their Agbo studio up and running. They’ve just firmed with Netflix plans for an India and Thailand shoot for Dhaka, a kidnap extraction drama that will star Chris Hemsworth — whose Thor character is central to the two Avengers films — and marks the feature directorial debut of Sam Hargrave. He has graduated from being Chris Evans’ stunt double in Captain America: The Winter Soldier to fight to stunt coordinator in Captain America: Civil War, to holding those jobs plus some second unit directing in Avengers: Infinity War. Dhaka is a script written...

Joe and Anthony Russo have been locked in directing Marvel films for the past few years. But after Avengers 4 they are going to move on to something a little different. Something that doesn't deal with superpowers.
They have picked up the rights to a book called Cherry, which comes from first-time author Nico Walker. The Russo's production company Arbo bought the rights for a cool million after a bidding war, and it will be the next film they direct.
The book is said to parallel the true life story of the author, who was a former Army medic who returned from Iraq with extreme undiagnosed Ptsd and fell into opioid addiction and began robbing banks. Walker ended up getting caught in 2011 and will be released in 2020.
The script for Cherry will be written by Jessica Goldberg (The Path) and here's a more in-depth description from Deadline:

Joe and Anthony Russo are in exclusive negotiations for movie rights to Nico Walker’s novel “Cherry,” the story of an Army medic turned bank robber and addict with post-traumatic stress disorder.
Walker was arrested in 2011 and wrote “Cherry” while incarcerated. The book was acquired by Knopf and has debuted at No. 14 on The New York Times bestseller list.
The Russo brothers directed Disney-Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War” and are in post-production on the untitled sequel, due out next May. They also directed “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” (2014) and “Captain America: Civil War” (2016). If the deal closes, the Russos would produce through their Agbo production company.

Exclusive: Joe and Anthony Russo’s upstart studio Agbo has moved into an exclusive negotiation for Cherry, the just published “novel” by first-time author Nico Walker. Agbo bid a $1 million outright buy for the Knopf book, which parallels the true life story of the author, a former Army medic who returned from Iraq with extreme un-diagnosed Ptsd and fell into opioid addiction and began robbing banks. Walker was caught in 2011 and is scheduled to be released in 2020.
The Russos are looking to make this the next film they direct. They helmed the summer’s biggest film, Avengers: Infinity War, and they are fine-tuning the sequel to that film which they shot back to back and which Marvel and Disney release next summer. The Cherry script will be written by Jessica Goldberg, who is adapting the novel Exit West for Agbo and was creator and Ep on the Hulu series The Path.

Exclusive: The most intriguing book auction is taking place right now. Several suitors, including big directors, are chasing Cherry, a new “novel” by first time author Nico Walker. The book was just published by Knopf, and is already a top seller on Amazon, and got the kind of author profile in last Sunday’s The New York Times that is usually jet fuel for a book to film deal. Trouble is, the author is in prison until 2020 for committing the bank robberies that are described in harrowing detail in the novel. And late this week, he ran out of phone minutes and will not be able to entertain any offers until he can again use the jailhouse phone on Sunday.
