Kim Davis, the former Kentucky clerk that denied two gay couples marriage licenses in 2015, violated their constitutional rights, a federal judge found on Friday.
“Defendant Davis violated Plaintiffs’ constitutional right to marry by refusing to issue them marriage licenses, either personally or through the policy she established for the Rowan County Clerk’s office,” read the court order, as obtained by Rolling Stone.
Although the pre-trial summary judgment found said violation, Judge David Bunning’s order did not include a decision on whether Davis will be responsible for the legal fees associated with the case,...

President Trump flew to Louisiana midweek to support Republican gubernatorial candidate Eddie Rispone, and on Thursday, “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert revealed everywhere he’d *rather* be than at a Trump Maga rally.
Colbert’s long list included: “the Dmv, the dentist, someone else’s child’s clarinet recital, a Soviet gulag [work camp], covered in honey and staked to an anthill, sliding down a 5o-foot razor blade into a bathtub full of gin, and in conversation with someone who knows a lot about Bitcoin.”
His list was followed with a soundbite of Trump boasting about his election numbers.

“And don’t forget, in 2016, people came from the mountains, and the valleys and the rivers and the oceans,” the president said. “They came from all over.”
Colbert then turned on his Trump impression, boasting, “All my...

Matt Bevin is the villain who gets caught at the beginning of the action movie. He’s the flunky, then henchman, the guy whose demise serves a plot device. He is the assistant bogeyman at best, the loudmouth whom ultimately proves disposable. We don’t know yet what will happen at the end.
That the outspoken and brusque Kentucky governor lost his seat in a narrow defeat to state attorney general Andy Beshear on Election Night is an unabashed good thing. This is the guy who, two years ago, more...

Washington — Democrats cleaned house in Virginia, grabbing full control of the state government for the first time in decades. In Kentucky, an unpopular, Trump-endorsed Republican governor appears to have lost by the thinnest of margins. But Kentucky Republicans won every other statewide race, and an establishment Republican cruised past a moderate Democrat in the Mississippi governor’s race.

President Trump’s relationship with reality is such that he is psychologically incapable of acknowledging defeat of any kind. This applies to feuds with celebrities, denuclearization negotiations, and, as we’re seeing Wednesday, even elections, in which defeat is quantifiable and, one would think, inarguable.
Following the 2016 election, Trump famously and falsely claimed his popular vote defeat was due to illegal ballots. More recently, he tried to fashion a victory out of the 2019 gubernatorial election in Kentucky, bragging about the impact of his recent rally for Republican incumbent Matt Bevin,...

President Donald Trump poured gasoline on the California wildfires crisis this morning, calling out Gov. Gavin Newsom via his weekly tweetstorm for poor forest management.
“I told him from the first day we met that he must “clean” his forest floors, regardless of what his bosses, the environmentalists, Demand of him. Must also do burns and cut fire stoppers….Every year, as the fire’s (sic) rage & California burns, it is the same thing – and then he comes to the Federal Government for $$$ help,” Trump tweeted. “Get your act together Governor. You don’t see close to the level of burn in other states.”
Looking on the bright side, Trump concluded, “But our teams are working well together in putting these massive, and many, fires out.”

When Rowan County, Kentucky, Clerk Kim Davis refused to issue marriage licenses following the 2015 Supreme Court Decision legalizing gay marriage, she cited “God’s authority” and became a hero to right-wingers, including Sen. Ted Cruz (R-tx) and then-candidate, now Kentucky governor Matt Bevin, who said: “Without any question I support her.” When Davis was later arrested for refusing to comply with a court order to issue licenses, Bevin even tweeted about visiting the clerk in jail.

Weezy joined the rock band during the halftime show of the Clemson vs. Alabama game and performed 2 songs -- first, he did "Uproar" followed by a rap verse in the Imagine Dragons hit "Believer." Most people Loved the "Believer" verse ... but not Gov. Matt Bevin, who went...
