If you're an "X-Men" fan, you should be listening to the "Cerebro" podcast. The host, literary agent/"X-Men" historian Connor Goldsmith, and a guest (usually an "X-Men" writer or fan of some repute) discuss a chosen character — both their history and why they resonate.
The 101st episode of "Cerebro" (released May 2023) featured comic writer Jonathan Hickman, who relaunched the X-Men comics alongside artist Pepe Larraz in 2019 with intersecting miniseries "House of X" & "Powers of X" (the latter pronounced like the number 10). For the episode, they discuss En Sabah Nur/Apocalypse, the most infamous X-Men antagonist not named Magneto.
Writer Louise Simonson and artist Jackson "Butch" Guice created Apocalypse in 1986 as the shadowy villain for their book "X-Factor." He was revealed to be an immortal mutant, possibly the very first one. Born in Ancient Egypt, Apocalypse has shaped the curve of history to Herbert Spencer's survival of the fittest ethos.

Dynamite Entertainment has released a ton of Army of Darkness comic books over the years, but with the upcoming series Army of Darkess: Forever they’re going back to the source: this comic book is a direct sequel to director Sam Raimi’s 1993 film (watch it Here)! And this sequel comes with a bonus in that it continues on from both endings of the film.
While the theatrical cut of Army of Darkness found our time traveling hero Ash back in his own time, working at S-Mart (and fighting a Deadite in the aisles), the director’s cut of the film ends with Ash being dropped into a post-apocalyptic future.
Here’s the information on Army of Darkness: Forever #1: The story picks up immediately after the events of the beloved film, jumping between three fun timelines. The Techno Army of Darkness of 2093, the S-Mart aisles of 1993, and the middle ages chaos of Castle Kandar,...

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is finally here! And with it comes a host of answers to long-standing fan speculations, the wish-fulfillment of multiple fan-castings and favorite returns, and a even more questions about where this leaves the MCU of the future. Oh yeah, and there’s also a ton of references to Marvel Comics in here.
Here are our favorite ones that we’ve found…
America Chavez
Created by Joe Casey and Nick Dragotta, America Chavez has been kicking around Marvel Comics for over a decade now. Much of what you see from here in this movie is true to the comics, although she’s more inexperienced/unsure of herself than we’ve come for her to be known. The character has served on several teams, including the Ultimates and A-Force, but this version of...

When Kevin Feige announced that “Baby-Sitters Club” actress Xochitl Gomez would officially portray the character of America Chavez in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” comic fans were thrilled. But as for the wider world, there was a lot of confusion. Who was America Chavez? What does her character add to a film that already includes big Marvel characters like Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch?
If you’re one of the people asking those above questions, we’re here to help school you on this awesome superhero you probably have never heard of. Aside from a short-lived 2017 solo series, America has mostly been a side character in comics like “A-Force,” “Ultimates,” and “West Coast Avengers.” So it’s not surprising that a lot of people haven’t heard about her. But it seems like Marvel is finally letting her have the spotlight, and we’re betting she’s going...

On Friday, word got out that Xochitl Gomez (of Netflix’s Babysitter’s Club) was joining Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the sequel to Marvel’s trippiest pre-Endgame movie. And with a title like that, and the presences of Marvel’s foremost reality bender, the internet collectively gasped “America Chavez!” together. But who is she? And why is she such an obvious addition to the cast of Doctor Strange 2?
“Ms. America” Chavez is a relatively recent addition to Marvel canon. She was introduced by Joe Casey and Nick Dragotta in 2011’s Vengeance. She was raised by her two mothers in a utopian pocket dimension. Her moms both appeared to die closing black holes that threatened her city, and inspired by their heroism, she abandoned her reality for the multiverse.
When she arrived on the main Marvel Earth, she joined the Teen Brigade and fought, among others, a teenage Loki.

A report has surfaced from McU Cosmic that Marvel Studio is planning to introduce Miss America, a.k.a. America Chavez to the McU at some point in the future.
I guess this really shouldn’t come as a surprise, as any Marvel character that celebrates diversity will probably end up finding their way into the McU at some point! For those of you not familiar with the character, she is a a Latin-American gay immigrant superheroine who was a member of the short-lived New Teen Brigade, the Young Avengers, and the Ultimates. She is a tough, no nonsense super heroine, yet one with a genuine desire to help others and do good.
The report speculates that her inclusion furthers Marvel’s possible plans to assemble The Ultimates in the McU. Other members of that team include Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and Monica Rambeau.
