Poll: The Hawkeye State Movies
The Hawkeye State is the official nickname of Iowa. Adopted early in the state's history, Iowa's nickname is "The Hawkeye State" as a tribute to chief Black Hawk, leader of the native American Sauk tribe, who relocated to Iowa after unsuccessful fighting of settlers (source: statesymbolsusa.org). Iowa became the 29th state of the United States of America in 1846.
