We here at IMDb are saddened by the passing at age 85 of Caroll Spinney, the beloved puppeteer who was best known as the character "Big Bird", of the long running childrens show Sesame Street (1969). Condolences go out from us here to all of his family and close friends worldwide. Caroll, all of us here from every country on the planet are saying to you, "thanks for all the smiles you brought to us and our children."
Caroll, while known mostly for portraying Big Bird, was also the puppeteer and voice of Oscar the Grouch, Granny Bird, Bruno the Trashman, Bennett Snerf, and Adrienne.
But Big Bird and Oscar are his most popular characters.
