Really well done film
18 November 2003
Despite a few of the reviews on this page, I would like to say this film is really great. The main woman has such a believable character who I could actually relate to. Even though it was kind of corny, I loved the dog collar symbolism. I don't blame the woman for looking for something else to do with her life.

It was odd seeing the character of hippy Greg because I felt like I knew him. He seemed like a bunch of people I know all wrapped into one. That's really great because usually movie characters never even slightly resemble real life people. But this guy talked and acted like a ton of people I know and it was kind of creepy.

Someone mentioned on here that the film is "talky" and they couldn't be more right. But the talkiness makes the movie really intense and authentic. People interrupt each other in real life and get into long, heated discussions. You never really see this in movies, and it was very interesting.

I loved how the movie did not think it was "gross" or impolite to show nude or make fun of middle aged women. You get into their minds and you feel like they do. Usually our society scoffs at middle aged menopausal women and thinks they are irrational and crazy. But this movie allows you to see how they see and you really get into it. It's not gross to see a 40 year old woman nude.

This movie was really astounding - I've been thinking about it a lot. If you like intelligent movies that treat people like they actually matter, watch this. It's really great.
