The Golden Girls (1985–1992)
Great!
3 February 2002
"The Golden Girls", produced by Disney's Touchstone Television for NBC between 1985-1992 is one of the greatest TV shows of all time. When it aired on NBC (Saturday nights at 9pm), it continually won its time slot, became the 4th highest-rated show on TV and with the help of "The Cosby Show" and "Cheers" catapulted NBC to #1.

Unfortunately, Bea Arthur, the sarcastic and very funny Dorothy Zbornak, left the show in 1992 and brought an end to 7 years of laughter, fights and most importantly, cheesecake.

A spin-off, called "The Golden Palace" aired on CBS, but with less than inspiring writing and a missing ingredient, the show was cancelled after on season.

"The Golden Girls", with a myriad of Emmy wins (most notably, one for each actress) and numerous spin-offs ("Empty Nest", "Nurses" and "The Golden Palace", just to name a few) has etched itself in the hearts of loyal fans and continues to make audiences laugh since the last episode aired on May 9, 1992.

Lifetime airs the show about 34 times a week and it's still a must see for all ages.
