I have not read the novel, but I am sure it is decent, just as this movie was.
The acting is decent, though choppy at some parts. The plot is all right, I guess, about a girl growing up in the 70's, facing a first taste of love, puberty, friendship, and death.
I could not believe that Vada was 11 years old, though. By lines, maturity, and reactions, she seemed around 7.
This movie is just okay. It's not great, and it doesn't stink either.
