L'enfant lion (1993)
9/10
A superior (non-animated) film which young people and adults will enjoy. What the Lion King wished it was.

This film was really amazing. Luc Besson, of the Professional, was involved as one of the film presenters. The interaction between the young African people, one who had to be no older than 2 yrs old, with animals, was really amazing. The cinematography was excellent. This film is a great story that reminds you of Sundiata. The village that the boy lives in is in tune with the animals of the region. A link develops between a young boy and a lion which were born at the same time. This endows the boy with powers which connects him with the animals. The connection allows him to combat the Arab invaders involved in the slave trade who move into the region where his village is. I found this film historically true regarding the depiction of Arabs involved with the slavery. This really is a must see film for those interested in a good story involving young people. I typically stay away from movies where the main actors are children, but this was really a superior film.
