Laughably bad? I beg to differ. I was completely into this movie from beginning to end. I loved it in the theaters and I loved it when I saw it on cable.
Mortal Kombat is a great adaptation of the video game and the casting is just perfect. Robin Shou is the perfect Liu Kang, Linden Ashby provides great comic relief as Johnny Cage and Christopher Lambert is great comic relief as well.
I guess it's because I liked the video game that I loved seeing all of the characters being brought to life. Scorpion and Sub-zero are just badass, and Scorpion's fight scene with Johnny cage is probably the best fight in the whole movie.
I haven't seen it recently, but I know that when I saw it a decade ago, it was just great.
