This is the kind of show that flaunts its "Canadianess". It offers a capable cast of talented Canadians working in a Toronto-based investment company, but as it turns out it is not very enjoyable viewing. As you watch it you are constantly being reminded that you are watching a Canadian show, and for this, it lacks a sense of savoir faire. It used to be vigorously advertised so it can reach a wide range of audiences and the ratings were very successful. Its time slot was on Thursday nights on Global Television and its competition was "ER" on CTV. I watched the "Traders" one full season and I was thoroughly bored. Maybe it's just me. But then when it was time for the Gemini Awards (the Canadian equivalent of the Emmys) it did not go home empty handed.
