Deserved more attention
11 December 2000
You probably have never heard of this film but The Heatwave Lasted Four Days is one of the better Canadian films of the 70s. It's about a news reporter (Gordon Pinsent) who gets involved with underworld figures. At first, he does it for extra cash but things soon become more complex than he bargained for. It has good performances from other familiar Canadian actors like Al Waxman and Lawrence Dane and a strong air of credibility is maintained throughout. A lot of Canadian films made around this time were less than wonderful and deserve to be forgotten but The Heatwave Lasted Four Days deserves some respect.
