Review of Madame

Madame (1993)
YOU draw the line
29 September 2003
I guess that you could call this a docudrama because some of it is probably fact, and some of it is probably fiction. It's a movie about a dirt-digging reporter who gets fired for pursuing a story too vigorously. Then she decides to become an escort, and afterward, tell about her experiences to the highest bidder. Trouble is, as she's going through the escort routine, she's losing the tolerance of her boyfriend, and her sister. She's also developing a cocaine habit, and befriending some of her co-workers, who she might expose. To this film's credit, it did not give me the impression of condemning or excusing this profession. Neither did it contain any glaring, low-budget features. Even unedited, I doubt that MADAM contains much sex, which might be unexpected by some viewers. All-in-all, a tolerable effort.
