Review of All stars: De serie

I only saw the episode that won the International Emmy Award, not the whole series, but I guess all other episodes (at least from the same season) are as brilliant. "All Stars" is one of the best sports comedy-dramas I've seen, combining good plot, great dialogue, nuanced humour, functional camerawork that enhances comic aspects, and of course an inside look on football (or "soccer" if you're American). The series is about an amateur Dutch football team, and the award winning episode is about a friendly game against a German team (telling any more would be a spoiler). The characters are loveable, the pace is accurately slow, there's plenty of memorable quotes (of course only if you happen to speak Dutch) and brilliant comic use of football history and scorers' gestures. I really hope I get to watch the whole series and the movie it was based upon.
