Native Tongue (2003)
9/10
Lyrical, thoughtful, moody ...and completely bizarre.
7 October 2004
There were many ways to enjoy this short film- for it's photography, for it's music, and for it's story. Of all the films I saw at Mill Valley, this one was probably the most original and strangely- it was the one with the most clichés. But I think that was the filmmaker's intention- at least I hope. One thing's for sure- if you seal this movie in a jar and bury it- to be found hundreds of years from now, people will wonder what in the hell these filmmakers were thinking, and they will praise it as a cinematic anomaly. For now, I wouldn't hold my breath for such accolades. Still, totally marvelous.
