Review of Native Tongue

Native Tongue (2003)
9/10
Stark and complex noir
6 October 2004
This is awesome parody. Make no mistake. Weaving through a clever path of pulp clichés, and arriving at the truth behind them makes this neo-noir short not just your run of the mill homage.

Ultra-slick camera angles, stunning lighting and dialogue crackling with entendre and satire sculpt a moody and at times challenging terrain. Schlocky pulp revisited with a wry sense of humor made this 15 minute short shot in glorious black and white high-contrast film a favorite at Mill Valley where I first enjoyed it.

Also some pretty racy scenes. What's with the pubic hair? Check out Native Tongue if you can find it!
