Play for Today: Rainy Day Women (1984)
Season 14, Episode 9
Independent minded drama?
29 November 2004
Nearly twenty years have gone since I saw this drama; as I remember it, a feud had developed between a group of men and a group of land girls, with the Charles Dance character acting as a sort of arbiter between them. It seemed to be A sort of 'misogynism verses bite the hand that feeds you' conflict leading to A destructive conclusion; I remember enjoying it greatly at the time, and would like to see it again. It reminded me in a strange sort of way of an American t.v. drama,'The dark secret of harvest home' with Bette Davis in the leading role as A Mother Earth sort of figure! Long live independent productions! Rod Mattey. UK.
