Foreign perceptions of USA
19 February 2005
This is a great film. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The Director has a great eye for the lens. I appreciate his understanding of how movement effects pacing and the way he sets up each shot. I see Spielberg and Mendes in his approach. This is strictly a character driven script. Emily Harrison is great. She succeeds in showing the conflict her character has in trying to fit in on foreign soil and the perceptions that they have of her and America. It is interesting to watch how her own emotions evolve in such a short time. I think the overall theme of this story is most relevant in today's environment. It is truly a wonderful piece of work. The flow and pacing along with the attention to detail makes it a visual pleasure.
