Review of Shabnam

Shabnam (1964)
5/10
Highly Musical
29 March 2005
The movie starring Mahmood has some of the best sung songs by Mohd Rafi. The move is more on the lines of Zorro. The story is about a Princes who has a look alike called Shabnam who happens to be a dancer/Rakasa as they were known. She is the daughter of Sheikh Mukhtar who favors the prices and knows about the his daughter being a look-alike of the princess. Mahmood is a Price is returning back to the kingdom and comes in as disguise of a meek person. At night he dons the Mask (Zinggaro) and fights the evil from the princess' court. There is a romantic angle between Mahmood and the Princess involving the famous song "Ya Habibi". Shabnam has a very good music by Usha Khanna. Sheikh Mukhtar is his usual powerful self.
