The real plot outline

The plot outline above ("A young Muslim woman living in Britain campaigns for the release of her immigrant husband from his detainment in a holding centre.") is incorrect and has little or nothing to do with the plot - the film is about a young woman, who lives in England somewhere up north, not really decided about her faith but bought up in a Muslim family, who desires the freedoms of western culture and her right to independence, not wanting to marry someone against her own will, but loves her family too much to make them disown her - and besides, she has no-one else in the world to run to. The issues are all blown out of proportion by the onset of the 9-11 attacks.

I didn't realise there were still white English people who were so racist - I don't see much in London, maybe it's more common up north.

Nothing about the film is unreal or exaggerated, the film is a reflection of modern life in England and these things happen all the time in this country, though not normally to the same family all at the same time.

Although I knew it happens all the time, this film let me see first-hand how difficult and desperate the life of an innocent individual can get such as one born into a family under strong religious/cultural influence - it was really an eye opener to see how it plays out in reality - all this communicated through a well-made motion picture.

Oh yeh, and I agree, Archie Panjabi does have a great body!!
