OCD THE WAR INSIDE I was in this documentary
18 August 2005
OCD THE WAR INSIDE I should start by saying that I was in this documentary. I was the young women with OCD. I was quite pleased with the documentary I BELIEVE IT PROVIDES A FAIRLY Realistic VIEW of OCD. OCD is a complex mental illness and the documentary showed both the pain and difficulties OCD can cause and the success some people have with Cognitive behaviour therapy and Medications. This documentary is not perfect-nor is any documentary. Documentaries are a careful craft of blending a persons reality, while protecting some of the persons anonymity (there are just some things that a person wants or needs to remain confidential). Documentaries have a short time to explain and summarize a life-or in the case of OCD The war Inside-many lives. Lives are complex and so are people-The documentary gives a brief summery of many people with OCD. I would have liked the documentary to focus more on some of the success and treatment options-but that was not the goal of the documentary-The goal of the documentary was to show the human face of OCD and mental illness. OCD the War Inside did this. For those who argue OCD-the War Inside, provided people with little hope-I do not agree with your evaluation, for those who argue, it is the families' fault-I hope you re-watch the documentary-with an open mind. OCD the War Inside, was designed to get people to critically think, to evaluate ideas and stigmas (that we as individuals and societies may hold)I believe that it did this-for What are we doing now? Things have changed since the documentary in 2001-2002.I am a university student-minoring in psychology and majoring in Social work, I volunteer and work part-time, I have a family and friends who love me and whom I love, yes-Ocd is still a part of my life, but I live with OCD-Although OCD causes suffering-as showed in the documentary-OCD has taught me compassion and the importance of living every day to the Best of my ability and working towards an even brighter tomorrow. IOCD The War Inside, is a thought provoking documentary, although I urge people to watch it, I also caution that it many be difficult to see. But living with OCD has taught me, that some of the most difficult things teach us the most
