Disneyland - The First 50 Magical Years
5 October 2005
I highly recommend this film to those who are interested in the original ideas, layout and construction of Disneyland in Anaheim. It has humor ala Steve Martin and Donald Duck vying for top 'billing' (pardon the pun). There are many commentaries given by Walt Disney himself as to his ideas and concepts of the park and all the basic ideals that make it so endearing to all as a 'family-oriented' destination which is obvious by it's international success. As you enter the building where the film is presented, the lobby is filled with original concept drawings and scale models of the layout of the park and the 'lands'. There is an early film honoring the 'Cast Members' (employees). This film showcases the costuming for each of the experiences you will be embarking upon...such as the snappy uniform of the future as you board the Monorail or the raggedy cut-off pants and straw hats as you travel across the lagoon to Tom Sawyer's Island on a raft...and many others. There are displays of original tickets and brochures from the opening day and subsequent series of tickets leading to the almighty 'E' Ticket which was the epitome of ride experiences at the Park! You may take your time looking these over before you enter the theater for the film which ties all the details of the lobby into reality. "It all started with a Mouse."
