I wish I could say everyone should see this film, but I cannot because not everyone will "get" this film. After reading a review in my local paper written by someone I know to be less than smart (Donnie Darko comparison?!?!), I knew I had to see this.
The sumptuous visuals and auditory clues given throughout kept my mind in high gear. The acting is of course perfect. The story itself is pretty straightforward once you arrive at the resolution. It's the poetic journey to the end that makes this an awesome film. At no point did I fully realize what was going on until the end, which is as it should be in such a story.
The closest I could come to making a comparison to another film would be Jacobs Ladder. Fans of non-standard narrative structure and stories about altered states of consciousness will love this.
