Review of Exitz

Exitz (2007)
8/10
Shades of films like The Island + Murder + EXistenZ + an episode of The X-files = Exitz
4 February 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Remember that episode of the X-files in which Krista Allen co-starred as a computer game vixen that comes to life and starts wreaking havoc against anybody who dared played the game she originated from? Remember the premise behind The Island starring Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson? Remember ExistenZ? Did you see the Bollywood film 'Murder?' If you answered YES to all four questions, then the premise behind 'Exitz' will not be new to you. The film company that made this film also makes Bollywood flicks as well, so I guess that's why this movie is a Masala of both Hollywood/indie types and Bollywood. Okay so here's the story: A rich computer game's mogul (played by Malcolm Mcdowell) comes up with a new game in which the characters are the reality and the people who exist in real life are the ones being played as the game. And you can imagine how everything goes haywire as the plot begins to unravel. I liked this film because of its Bollywood aspects and elements. Kate Winslet's sister Beth plays a mysterious S&M type femme Fatale which should get her noticed on the Hollywood scene, and Perizaad Zorabian also co-stars. Who do you trust in a game where the only thing that makes sense is ultimate deception? Exitz gains major kudos for taking an old idea and making into something spectacular! It will definitely earn either a R rating or NC-17 if it seeks wide release in the US.
