A lackluster, yet promising first date
25 February 2006
I, like many fans of the AVENGERS, IRON MAN and many others were anxiously awaiting the release of this film to DVD. THE ULTIMATE AVENGERS movie was suppose to be the first of many anime-films by Marvel, well, though reasonably exciting, this first of many was sort of....blah.

I mean, don't get me wrong. The ULTIMATE AVENGERS movie was a reasonable attempt for Marvel. It had action(sort of), drama, some nicely drawn characters and a story that sort of kept you wondering. I was expecting a story that was never done before, even in the previous incarnations of Marvel characters, but this one was done by the JUSTICE LEAGUE in their first year on TV, just redressed some to fit with Marvel. Some of the character changes were a bit ridiculous; take the HULK for example. The design of Bruce Banner was ridiculous and somewhat sorry; He looks like a bum. And his alter-ego looked like he lost a battle with weight watchers. The CGI version in the movie,HULK,( really don't wanna go there), had more muscle.

Well, Since this just the first of many films for Marvel's animated company, one should at last have some hope in the next ones. This one may have had it's faults (some I can't reveal without spoiling it for ya, rent it first), but it was at least worth the 14 bucks I spent for it. Here's hoping for better things.
