WOW!! this is definitely in my top 10 list of animations, or top 10 list of any type of movie for that matter! I wouldn't say that this is a kid's film, but for all ages. There is a fair bit of dark content in it, which, if you have heard of it, will remind you very much of WATERSHIP DOWN, even the storyline is quite similar -
- a chipmunk (Glicko) tries to persuade his sister in journeying to another place, though is not exactly sure of it's whereabouts, - a bird (Pippo) is a great help in getting him to where he wants to go, - rats have a war with one of their own kind, - the hero chipmunk is thought to have died, - along the way, Glicko finds others of his kind, but is not happy so he must set off again. All in all, this is a truly heartfelt movie (you'll probably cry - i did), not at all childish, with a nice soundtrack, and (thank god) a happy ending. Go see this movie (pick up a region-free DVD from monomers on ebay), you will NOT regret it!!! And after you watch it, watch Watership Down as well, and you'll see what similarities i am on about.
